It says a lot about Islam that Muslims were forcing crusaders to do that a thousand years ago and look how far they've progressed.

Christianity has a long history of "convert or die". Within a few years after the first Thanksgiving in New England the Europeans were using that strategy to "save the souls" of the Native Americans.

But then trying to make sense of one component of an idea that is rooted in nonsense is bound to be futile. You can't apply logic to a situation where the base assumptions are invalid. So you just end up with people killing each other over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

I think they were trying to make a point... Christians offer aid to tsunami victims and other aid in places like India IF they convert to Christianity from Hinduism and so forth, putting on the pressure HARD to convert. So what's your point? What's the point of trying to cram Christianity down the throats of kind, decent Hindus by "force"?

You're talking about terrorists and, yes, there is something wrong with religious terrorists. I don't believe all Muslims are terrorists so I can't say there is anything wrong with Muslims in general. If you put a gun to someones head, they'll do almost anything. It's ridiculous when you are truly trying to change someones belief. It's obviously NOT the way to get people to change how they think. It's a weird waste of time.

It doesnt make any sense indeed. Those Muslim are transgressors who fail to understand the true message of Islam and the holy Quran.

The great Muslim scholar, Imam Ibnu Kathir (God be pleased with him) writes:

No Compulsion in Religion

Allah (The God) said,

[لاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِى الدِّينِ]

(There is no compulsion in religion), meaning, "Do not force anyone to become Muslim, for Islam is plain and clear, and its proofs and evidence are plain and clear. Therefore, there is no need to force anyone to embrace Islam. Rather, whoever Allah directs to Islam, opens his heart for it and enlightens his mind, will embrace Islam with certainty. Whoever Allah blinds his heart and seals his hearing and sight, then he will not benefit from being forced to embrace Islam.''

It was reported that the Ansar were the reason behind revealing this Ayah, although its indication is general in meaning. Ibn Jarir recorded that Ibn `Abbas said [that before Islam], "When (an Ansar) woman would not bear children who would live, she would vow that if she gives birth to a child who remains alive, she would raise him as a Jew. When Banu An-Nadir (the Jewish tribe) were evacuated [from Al-Madinah], some of the children of the Ansar were being raised among them, and the Ansar said, `We will not abandon our children.' Allah revealed,

[لاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِى الدِّينِ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ]

(There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the right path has become distinct from the wrong path.)''

Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i also recorded this Hadith. As for the Hadith that Imam Ahmad recorded, in which Anas said that the Messenger of Allah said to a man,

«أَسْلِم»

قَالَ: إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي كَارِهًا قَالَ:

«وَإِنْ كُنْتَ كَارِهًا»

("Embrace Islam.'' The man said, "I dislike it.'' The Prophet said, "Even if you dislike it.'')

First, this is an authentic Hadith, with only three narrators between Imam Ahmad and the Prophet . However, it is not relevant to the subject under discussion, for the Prophet did not force that man to become Muslim. The Prophet merely invited this man to become Muslim, and he replied that he does not find himself eager to become Muslim. The Prophet said to the man that even though he dislikes embracing Islam, he should still embrace it, `for Allah will grant you sincerity and true intent.'

God knows best.

Peace and Love.

There is something wrong with anyone who tries to "force" religion down someone's throat and make them see things their way.

We simply should present what we believe and let people make up their own mind. Don't get bent out of shape or get your feelings hurt if they don't see things the same way you do.

And how can we talk about "tolerance" when we hold a gun to someone's head and say, "believe or else".

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Yes, The only way forced conversion would even have the appearance of working is if the convert had to stay in the area wher he woul ddie if they found out he was faking.

It is the job of ALL moon god worshippers to CONVERT or KILL! It is a PRIME DICTATE of the Quaran.
The Verse Of The Sword from Al-Tawbah
Fight and slay the pagans (infidels) wherever ye find them, and seize them,
beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war." - Sura 9:5

"Prophet, make war on unbelievers and hypocrites, and deal rigorously
with them." - Sura 9:73

"Let not the unbelievers think they will ever get away. They have not
the power to do so. Muster against them all the men and cavalry at
your command, so that you may strike terror into the enemy of Allah
and your enemy... Prophet, (Mohammed) rouse the faithful to arms!
If they (the non-Muslims) incline to peace (accept Islam) make
peace with them." - Sura 8:59

"If they reject your judgement, know that it is Allah's wish to scourge
them for their sins." - Sura 5:49

"Believers (Muslims), take neither Jews nor Christians to be your
friends: they are friends with one another.
Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number,
and Allah does not guide (those Jewish and Christian) wrong-doers." - Sura 5:51
