My younger brother is addicted to runsecape, an online game. He is constatnly annoying me and my parents, because my parents decided not to allow him to have the computer. Is there a proper way of dealing with his obsession? He does not want to leave the house and does not do his homework any more.

It's very hard to do but yes it is possible. You might what to do a search on video game addiction. Try looking for support groups and/or someone who is qualified to deal with this type of addiction. I, myself have struggled with addiction for several years and I have finally found the strength to overcome it. I have an addiction to prescription pain killers. I know this is not the same type of addiction but it's still an addiction. There are many different types of addictions but the all have one thing in common: Addiction it self. Addiction has only one definition which makes all types one in its self.(I hope I'm not confusing you!) There are groups out there that are specifically involved with video games. They may seem trivial but they are one of the most important keys to conquering this. If you have any more questions or just need to talk you can IM me. Trust me I know a lot about this subject and I'd love to help you as much as possible. Good Luck!

I don't think you can overcome an addiction to the place where it no longer is part of your thoughts. Addiction can be overcome but there is always a lingering place where it's possible to invest yourself in the behavior again.
The proper way to deal with his obsession is for your parents to put limits and expectations on their son. If he is no longer doing homework and won't leave the house... take the game away from him. Why is your brother allowed to be irresponsible concerning his schooling? Who's in charge, your brother or your parents?
