Am I supposed to bake the cookie with the cookie cutters around them or cut out the cookie dough and remove the cookie cutters to bake them?

You use the cutters to cut the dough- remove them and the excess dough and then place the cutout onto a pan and bake. Light flour on the surface before you roll out the dough helps to pick up the cookie after it has been cut. You can decorate with sprinkles or sugar before you bake or do frosting and decorations after. Enjoy!

Heres a great cookie cutter recipe (family secret):

Add together
100 g sugar
200 g butter
300 g flour
1 egg

refrigerate dough for 1/2 hour

then roll out dough cut with cookie cutters, put shapes on a greased cookie sheet

Bake cookies at 405 degrees for 8-10 minutes

Decorate if you want

Twist:
Cut out a shape of a flower for example twice. make a hole with a lipstik cap in 1 of them. When they were baked, you can put a dollop of marmalade on the one without the hole, and place the one with the hole on top. Sprikle with powdered sugar, and you'll have awsome looking cookies, that taste and look store bought!

Remove the cookie cutters after you cut the dough.

Remove the cookie cutters. The dough will expand as it cooks, so leaving the cutters on could ruin them - and the cookies.

You can cut or trim a giant cookie but if you want to make a giant cookie then use a cookie cutter to make a dozen small cookies the majority will crumble. Also you will have a lot of waste in crumbs. Roll or pat out the dough then use the cookie cutter and re roll or pat out the scraps to make more cookies.

Cut the cookies out of the dough and place them on the cookie sheet. Then roll up the "scraps" of dough and repeat in order to use up all of the dough.

YOU JUST CAN CUT THE DOUGH WITH THEM THEN TAKE THEM OFF, BUT IF YOU WANT YOUR COOKIES TO BE EVEN, AFTER YOU CUT THEM DON'T TAKE THEM OFF UNTILL YOU ARE READY TO BAKE THEM.
