It is as the Bible says. King Herrod was not about to let The King of the Jews be merely unconscious. Jesus was beaten and tortured beyond recognition; to such a degree an ordinary man would have died before the nails were pounded into his flesh.
In the future, before you ask; it would behoove you to actually read the text for yourself. That way you wouldn't appear so uninformed. God bless you for asking. Questions like this only serve to increase the devoution to our Lord and Savior. Love you.

...What is your position? If you deny Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on on the third according to the Scriptures, then you need to do a lot of homework. Do you care to reveal your source of information?
...You need to seriously examine and study the following points:
...Where was He put, if not in the tomb? If the Roman soldiers failed in guarding the tomb, it would mean death to them. What new data can you tell us?
...Does it mean anything to you that the Romans were master executioners using crucifixion?
...The Biblical account clearly shows Jesus had died. His legs did not have to be broken (causing the one crucified to suffocate) since He was already dead. And the spear in this side brought out blood and water, also indicative of death.
...He was raised from the dead. Individuals and group saw Him alive after His crucifixion.
...Jesus called His followers to lives of integrity and honesty. Do you believe His apostles would die for a lie?

Believe it or not you are not the first to suggest this theory. One among many differing theories. The one you are suggesting I believe if I a remembering correctly is referred to as the swoon theory. You may or may not be interested to know that the case for the death and resurrection of Jesus has been discussed by some of histories leading legal minds. If you are interested e-mail me as I am kind of short on time. Regards. Sorry that some of the answers peole provide in here are a bit rough, just view it as evidence that people have strong beliefs about this issue.

Deny. According to the religious teachings of Christianity, Jesus died, and rose on the third day. Upon his death he was placed in a borrowed tomb.

Uh, a spear to the heart will usually do the trick, even if suffocation by pressure hadn't already done Him in. Read "A Doctor Looks at Calvary" before making any more such statements. They merely make you look like you just fell out of the pram.

He was taken down and put in the tomb. It was sealed by the Pharisees who posted guards. He was dead. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, in front of witnesses. This is the truth.

yes, oh professor of theology....
Jesus was put on a cross, tortured, bled blood from His pours, was stabbed. He died on the cross. Dead as a doornail!
There were many witnesses, don't forget.
If He did not die, there was no reason for God to send Him to the cross.
without His death AND resurrection, there would be no salvation for YOU and me.
sorry.....
try all you want to distort God's Truth.....
it is not a productive pasttime.

Unconscious? The roman soldiers made sure those who were crucified were dead. Joseph of Arimathea bought the tomb and placed him there, and to make sure no one would rob the tomb, a large boulder was placed at the entrance and even guards.

NO WAY!
HE was DEAD, Buried, and Rose again!
FOR SURE!
The Unholy Quaran states otherwise;
"Not Jesus, but a look alike, was substituted and crucified at the Cross." -4:157
THIS IS BLASPHEMY - AND A LIE! No proof can be offered at all.
