How can we shade our small skylight in bedroom without spending too much money? we're on a tight budget.?

size of skylight base frame is 22' on 50. not looking for anything fancy just practical solutions. thank you!

I would use a retractable shade with a string or chain attached to the bottom of shade and attach to a hook to be able to reach from the floor. Similar to how a mini blind works, only horizontal, instead of vertical. This would enable you to open easily when need more light.

Get two or three tension rods for curtains that will fit 22" width.
Then get a solid colored curtain that is about 50 inches long.
Run the tension rods through the top pocket and through the bottom hem.

You could look at a thrift store for the curtain maybe the rods also.

Get on a ladder and twist them out slightly wider than 22 inches to tension them in place at each end of the skylight. The Put the third on in the middle to keep it from sagging too much. Although you might not need the middle one. It will depend on the fabric.

I believe another person had this same question. You can go to any home improvement store and purchase a roll of tint. You measure the skylight, cut out the piece and stick it on. It provides shade, yet still lets some light through.

There is a window covering that looks like stained glass that is static held so you take it down when your tired of it. Comes in some very nice colors both light and darker. Home Depot, Fred meyers, most hardware stores. just cut to fit and smooth it up.

well you could put a colored sheet across the opening with thumbtacks and take it down when you want more light
