when using silverware and plate is nearly empty, should your knife be in front of the fork(top of plate)pulling the food toward the fork? or behind the fork(closer to person)pushing the food toward the fork.
sorry...hard to describe!

behind, closer to you, pushing the food onto the fork, not pulling it, that way, the other guest at the table aren't forced to look at the bits that you are perfectly allowed to eat! You never know, you could end up having someone with OCD or another disorder there, like Monk. This way, it also looks better to any other bistander, it looks like you went to finishing school

There's really no ironclad 'right' way to handle this, or the spooning of soups. I go with logic: do whatever creates the least chance for a mess to occur on me - so I tend to push everything away: spoons and forks.
