I will be sharing it with another girl.

Maybe you guys should share ideas before making decisions on how the dorm will look. Maybe you could even higher a designer IF you guys have the money. One should be able to put both of your ideas equally into the dorm so everyone is happy. If NOT, then sit down with her, discuss both of your personal styles, your favorite colors, favorite styles and themes for homes and most importantly, the housing situation, what you guys can and can not do to the walls, floor etc, and how you guys are going to deal with those issues. I do agree with the person above me as far as what you should bring goes. He's right :)

I would think that since the bed is a large part of the decor in a dorm room. The comforter set and sheets plus 2 or 3 big square bright pillows for the back of your bed, to make it a sofa.

Probably a coordinated rug to go beside your bed.

Once you get there you will learn what small furniture pieces you might need.

Have a great year.

Dorm room are pretty small and if you are going to share it I suggest bringing only the important things to make it feel like home.

1. your favourite bed sheets - to remind you of your bed at home.

2. Your pillow or stuffed bed buddy (only bring 1)

3. 1 framed picture and 1 wall poster.

That way, you have your stuff without invading too much your roommate's space. The rest of the room should be decided by the both of you together.

Take a few things at first, small stuff from home if you have some shelving or storage unit for books, files, not sure what you need.

Once you get living in the room with the other girl maybe after a week or two, you will really be able to define your needs.

You can get some great stuff at Target and I hate to say it, probally even cheaper at Wal Mart. Check out the ads in the paper for sales of what you need and replace the stuff in the room or keep it and work with it.

Good luck and have fun shopping!

All the general stuff that they don't provide like a small microvave, a blender, a minifirdge, Oh yeah definately bring a couple power strips with breakers on them. You're gonna need one of those small combo t.v.'s and a radio. Alarm clock is a MUST. you'll see why as you go along. By all means bring your own bedding, pillows sheets and such. You might need a desk It all depends on what's already there. Oh yeah Get a lock for your laptop. those things get ripped off all the time in dorms.

it depends, you need to see your dorm room, and see what you can do in it.

Also, you might not know that you will share a dorm room with another girl. unless the dorm is all by yourself

aw...i remember those days trying to figure that out...about half a year ago. lol. u can bring a lil of your own style. i liked pink, so i brought a whole pink bed set, of course with different colors coodinated in it to make it not so blank. then later i bought posters n stuff. bring a lil something and as time flows by you'll find yourself picking up stuff. i bet you'll have enough beauty in there by 2 months from your move-in date. but remember you can always change it up!!! i will be changing it when i get back tomoro!!! :) good luck n congrats on gettin in college!

A rug to cover what is guaranteed to be the world's cheapest carpet, and lots of posters/art prints. Nice bedding, and a pillow if you have a particular taste in softness etc.
