The Macs on the market today aren't the same Macs you used back in middle school. These things are powerful machines with great software. My vote goes to the Macintosh. After all, any new Macintosh can dual boot with Windows, natively. These days, you can game on the Mac just like any other PC. Macs actually run Windows better than most PCs. I switched to Mac nearly three years ago. I'm now on my third, a MacBook Pro. I'll never buy another PC again.

Are asking the difference between Mac and PC? Or OSes?
I haven't used Apple since the mid 80's, just before the Apple II came out.
Mac had a stable OS, but now that Mac is using Pentiums, it's not as stable (inherent flaws in Pentium).
As for the Hardware: PC's are more versatile what you can put into the hardware. Mac's are limited to what is made for Mac.
As for OSes.... If I was doing movies, graphic renderings like Shrek, et al, CAD or other programs like these, I would use a Mac.
But, since I don't do graphic programs and because most games I play are not made for Mac, I use a PC. And, I am a professional PC Tech. And, most businesses use MS and the PC.
As for the OSes themselves.... Microsoft is the worse even if it is the most used. Mac are OK if you're into graphics, but otherwise not much difference if a bit more stable than Windows. Linux is really good, but I'm a bit lazy to relearn commands to make Linux as it should.
What people don;t tell you, you need to "create" Linux to make it the OS you want it to be. There are different flavors of Linux (Gnu, Gnome, Red Hat, etc), but if you don't know which you prefer, you have to basically command line the OS you want. Also, Linux doesn't have all the Hareware support as yet. Though it has more than it did 5 years ago.
Side note: Being in the Technical field, and ready the tech files, Mac are now getting Worms, Trojans and other malware, unlike the review the person before me gave you. No OS is free from having some creating viruses for OSes. It's just that Macs were not popular enough for Crackers to try. Now that Mac is back in the limelight, viruses are being written for Mac. Especially now they can be dual booted with Windows and use Pentium CPU's.

Mac, Mac, Mac, and Mac...to get an apple computer would be the smartest decision you could ever make...they are the superior computer, and one day everyone will be using a Mac instead of a PC...Macs are more reliable, CANNOT GET VIRUSES, SPYWARE, MALWARE, TROJANS....the defense against these things is built into the Mac OS X and the Unix program on which the OS is built...no worries about defragmenting your hardrive like Windows, no firewall to worry about, no popups to worry about...THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MAC AND PC=> when you download something from the internet, a PC will simply ask you to download, run it, or save it, whether it is a FILE or PROGRAM...a Mac can tell a difference between the two...a file is usually the malicious between the two, and the Mac will distinguish this difference and alert you of the risk
all in all, if you want to save yourself time and aggrivation by not having to call tech support and be on the phone for four hours because you're IE browser keeps freezing and programs do not respond, just like Dell, then get a Mac, trust me its worth it

Linux is best, Mac is good but overpriced. Microsoft is lame, and they try to take away control of your own computer.
Dreamlinux 2.2 is the coolest Linux ever - as good as Mac, or better, plus it can be installed on most good PCs. Mac's problem is that it can only be installed on Mac hardware, and that's a huge limitation.

Microsoft is used more then Mac and has so much more software available. Mac's suck if you want to do any type of gaming. Mac also gets annoying after a while.
Why mac sucks:
