Yes, I read it twice before I converted to Islam. I actually had a very prejudiced eye against it because I wanted to be 100% sure that Islam was what I wanted for my life. And as you can see, I am now Muslim! :-D Alhamdulillah. And now I read it on a regular basis with an unprejudiced eye.
BTW: madrassa's do not only teach memorization of the Quran, they also teach the meaning of the verses, the history of the verses, fiqh, taqwa, tawheed, adab, akhlaq, and everything else involved in the religion of Islam.

without Bukhari, the Quran is meaningless. the place int he Quran does it tell the wonderful thank you to do Ablution? the thank you to do the Hajj? the thank you to word ramadan? In all situations we are counseled to do as Muhammad does, for little question he's the wonderful guy. yet how do all of us comprehend what he does, as nicely what Bukhari and the different writers of Hadith let us know? Sura 4:3 And if ye subject that ye won't deal incredibly with the aid of way of the orphans, marry of the girls, who look nicely to you, 2 or 3 or 4; and if ye subject that ye won't be able to do justice (to fairly some) then one (maximum effectual) or (the captives) that your suited hands very own. volume a million, e book 5, selection 268: Narrated Qatada: Anas bin Malik stated, "The Prophet used to seek for suggestion from all his different halves in a around, for the size of the day and night time they generally have been 11 in volume." I asked Anas, "Had the Prophet the rigidity for it?" Anas spoke back, "We used to point out that the Prophet used to take transport of the rigidity of thirty (adult adult males)." And Sa'identity stated on the authority of Qatada that Anas had counseled him approximately 9 different halves maximum effectual (now not 11). Like lots cult leaders for the period of historic previous, Muhammad was once a libertine, and in no way saved away from bedding a woman that he needed. He used his diverse hotline to God to justify it, and prefer fairly some distinctive gullible cult followers with the aid of employing historic previous, his sycophants enable him destroy out with it. i will show you equivalent cults in mormon church offshoots, or the David Koresh cult, wherein the supervisor had his selection os sexual companions, including young toddlers like Aisha. Muhammad was once a everyday cult chief, and in ANY society at latest, including Islamic societies, he might desire to be imprisoned for his crimes.

I Was a Crhristian, and i read it... after that there was not a lot to be said because simply it is hard to understand... though you have to find out by asking the scholars... after finding out, i just realized that there is nothing more true and perfect than Islam... Jesus was a Man, Mohammad was a man, and God is simply something hard to explain, but very beautifull(actually beautifull is a atom in the sea, compared with the Greatness of God) if you understand him

Memorization and understanding are two very different things. When you are trying to memorize, repeating a verse a hundred times is helpful. When you are trying to understand it, you take it slowly. In conclusion, it depends on what you are trying to do, memorize or understand.
