I dont want to spend over $500 and i will probably reload them. All i am going to do with the gun is Coyote hunt. I dont need to shoot over 200 yards because where i hunt, it is pretty brushy. I currently hunt with my dad 30-30 or my 12 guage. Which ammo is the cheapest also? Thanks

All three are great and the bigger you go in that three, the better the performance on coyotes. Since you are a reloader, consider the 55 V-Max by Hornady for the .223 or .22-250 and the 65 V-Max in the .243. You will generally never find an exit wound and the bullets literally blow up inside the animal for fast dispatches. I use the .243 in a Savage Model 10 Hunter. I have the 65 V-Max loaded to 3440 fps. You can push them faster, but this was the most accurate load in my rifle. I will not tell you powder charge because I don't feel that you should trust anyone posting loads. Look in the manuals and try a few to see what is best in your gun. I will tell you the powder is IMR 4064.

Get a Ruger Model 77 stainless steel with the synthetic stock and chambered in .223. I have one I bought in 1992, and it did a 3 shot group today that was less than an inch at 150 yards. It has killed more animals than I can remember and If I'm wanting to kill anything smaller than a bear, that's the rifle I would choose.
If you reload, the .223 has several advantages, and you will not be disappointed with the coyote killing ability of this round.
.223 store bought ammo is also cheaper than .243, .22-250, and .30-30, and you can get surplus military .223 really cheap, and most of it shoots good, and since the military ammo is Full Metal Jacket it doesn't tear big holes in Coyote pelts.

All three are good calibers, although a larger caliber could be used for a 200 hundred yard distance. The 243, would have sufficient knockdown at 200 yards, however, shot placement is the key and is essential in making a kill. Shop around for pricing. Some guns are the same price regardless of caliber. Remember also, that hunting in a brushy area, hinders a smaller calibers accuracy. Causing the projectile to explode before it reaches the target. Make sure your target is in clear view and your capable of hitting it accurately.

223 will be the cheapest to shoot....25.06 is the best in my book if you want to keep the hide......243 or 22-250 with also do the job...If you don't care about the hide.....You can move up to a 30.06 or .308 Winchester....22 Swift is popular among may Predator Hunters but I don't know how much it costs to reload....

For under $500.00 there are a lot of good used 30.06 rifles out there....Remember you get what you pay for....

Also be cautious if you go the smaller caliber route....High Velocity loads will shot out a barrel over time.....be shore to inspect the rifling.....

If you needed distance, 22-250 is your best bet. Its a "tak driver" for varmint as it firs a very low trajectory say for groundhogs or prarrie dogs. But if you're not needing distance, The 223 would be my choice. Killed a lot in Viet Nam with that calibre in similar, brushy terrain. My choice would be a Ruger "Mini-14" for that caliber. Among othe .223's I own, Its light weight, simple, easy to care for, virtually indestructible, and relatively inexpensive. You should be able to pick up a used one in good condition for around $200 - $300. Happy Hunting.

I like my 6mm because it bucks wind better than a 22, but this is normally not a big consideration. The 22-250 is hotter, but you say you'll not shoot over 200 yards, so that's not a consideration, either. I've never liked the 223 Rem., but it sounds like that's all you need, and it'll probably be cheapest over the long haul.

All would be great for what you want but my choice would be the 22-250.It has a flat trajectory and it is known for its accuracy. This is a very inexpensive round to shot with many options. It has a very light recoil and most all manufactures offer this caliber so finding a gun you like will be very easy.
