so i got my cartilage pierced about a month or two ago, maybe more, im not sure, but i didnt go to a piercing parlor to get it done, and yes i know that i was dumb for not going but i just deceided to get it done at claires boutique, and i still have a pain whenever i touch around that area, i have taken it out a few times to clean it but when i do take it out i usually cant put it back in without help, and even with help its still hard and i cant find the back hole with the stud and it always swells up when i do that because im just irritating the hole, and im thinking thats the reason why it still hurts, although i havent taken the piercing out in about a month, im just wondering has anyone gone through this?? and does anyone know a way to solve this? if i have to take the piercing out i will, but im trying to keep it in and have it not hurt when i touch it, and if i do take it out, is their anyway i can close the hole up because if i take it out i dont want a hole there.THANKS!

yes i have been through this before on all of my piercings because i have such sensative ears... but they all have healed up

ok first of all you shouldnt take it out.... because it you do all that infection will build up and it will hurt even after you take it out for good

and second of all... i know this is going to hurt but take a cotton ball and put some poroxide on it and rub the poroxide on your piercing while the earing is in there and start turning the stud...

if that doesnt work i dont know what to tell you

but if i was you i would do that like 2 times a day

First of all, those guns cannot be sanitized very well at all. Just think about all the disgusting things it touches and how many diseases you can be exposed to. I'd recommend going to a doctor and getting blood work done to make sure you didn't get hepatitis.

Secondly, because you used a gun, you may have shattered the cartilidge in your ear. This could be causing all the pain. It is really traumatic to use a gun, but especially when you have such thick cartilidge in your ear, it is very dangerous.

Thirdly, please ignore the people who tell you to use anything like a cotton ball or Q-tips to clean your piercing. When you do this, the cotton can get caught on the jewelry and get side your piercing, bascially making a nice home for any bacteria to live in. You'll want to do sea salt soaks about once a day with warm water. You can get a martini glass and just lay your ear in there for about 10 minutes everyday. Do not play with your ear or wash it too much because it'll dry it out.

Lastly, do not take the piercing out while it is infected. If your piercing closes while you have an infection, all the puss and bacteria will just get trapped and will not have a way to get out. You'll want to wait till it is completely healed before you take out the peircing.

I hope you'll get the rest of your piercings at a professional shop! Autoclaving and hollow needles are the only way to prevent diseases and it is the safest way to avoid infections. Good luck!

well you got it done at claires dont be surprised if it stays leik that for a year! gettign it done iwht a gun increases the healing duration causing it to take longer to hea. if you got it done wiht a neelde the piercing would have been mostly healed by now. .. i suggest take it out and get it done profesisonally with a needle.. youll be better off and it will be alot less painful. you caused alot of unnecesary trauma to your ear for gettign it done wiht a gun. i got 2 cartilge piercings done 3 months ago. they are still sore after ive slept on them all night but are mostly healed... go get them done iwht a needle! if you take it out the hole will most liekly close up... since the piercing is still considered new.. evern though its 2 months old.. it tkes time for holes to close up though... so give it time. better start by taking it out now!

plaes do not use peroxide as another user stated above. nor do nto touch it. the more you turn it and everythign the more it will hurt. and putting peroxide or rubbing alcohol. will only cause an even LONGER healing duration and irritate your piercing further.. this is what the professionals have told me so im just passing the knowledge onto you! keep away from all that! and do the se salt soaks liek someone else stated above. those will help aid healing and help wih the pain.

I would try sea salt soaks for a week or so and see if that helps. Take 1/4 of a teaspoonful of sea salt (available at grocery stores, DO NOT use table salt) to one quart of water. Warm in the microwave, and soak a soft, clean cloth, and hold on the piercing. Try this 2X a day, and see if this helps.

If this does not help, I would suggest taking it out, getting anything pierced with a "gun" is technically getting "shot" and it causes blunt force trauma to the piercing site and the surrounding tissue. You may have to let it heal, then go to a professional after 6 months.

Good Luck!!

I didn't get mine done by a professional and mine hurt for awhile afterwards. I had to clean it all the time and it would hurt to lay on it or touch it. Your best bet would be too use the strongest cleaning stuff you can find and keep making sure it heals correctly. I ended up taking mine out a couple years later, cause I just didn't want to put up with it anymore. If they used a gun then they shattered your cartilage and that's not good.

I had the same problem, I got my cartalige pierced at the same place too. I took mine out and the hole closed up pretty fast. You should'nt have a hole there if you do decide to take it out, maybe a tiny scar. If you want to keep it, i'd say keep using the solution they gave you, that seemed to help me.

Hey I have the same problem(with the pain anyways, I didnt pierce it myself) It still hurts and I cant even sleep on the sides of my head. I'm probably just going to take them out soon, its not worth the lack of sleep to me. I'll just stick to tattoos and my other 2 piercings.

well yeah it took me a while for my cartiledge to heal- but that was bc i had to take it out for soccer. It will get better-it takes a lot longer than normalk piercings..but if u want to remove it, the hole will just close up on its own and u dont have to worry about it.
