Bush wants to send 20,000 more troops to Iraq. One Brigade now and one Brigade per month.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said newly empowered Democrats will not give Bush a blank check to wage war in Iraq, hinting they could deny funding if he seeks additional troops.
"The American people and the Congress support those troops. We will not abandon them. But if the president wants to add to this mission, he is going to have to justify it and this is new for him because up until now the Republican Congress has given him a blank check with no oversight, no standards, no conditions," said Pelosi, D-Calif.
Some military officials, familiar with the discussions, say Bush at first could send 8,000 to 10,000 new troops to Baghdad, and possibly Anbar Province, and leave himself the option of adding more later if security does not improve.
"Based on the advice of current and former military leaders, we believe this tactic would be a serious mistake," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev..

Bush is doing this for several reasons.

1. Is he failed in Iraq.

2. By saying he needs more troops in Iraq to control the situation he is looking like he is trying.

3. By waiting until the democratic senate and congress gets into office is very coincidental. He had 4 years to do this and waits till now. Why? To make the Democrats look bad for questioning his behavior.

4. The democrats will want answers as to why now and where is this going. He will in turn tell the American people the democrats are traitors and declare Marshall Law.

Why doesn't the President tell his daughters to enlist? Why don't all those political cronies and those super rich and power who are profiteering ask their own children to enlist also? Has Cheney's daughter enlisted yet or any of his children? It's easy to send other people's children off to war, isn't it? Many Republicans are already balking about sending more troops... not just the Democrats; so, unless you're a hemorrhoid, get off the Democrats' @sses!

A serious mistake was believing what the government told us about nuclear weapons in Iraq.

Bush cannot seek reelection. He is dangerous. At least now his actions will be questioned.

That last commission-the one to offer new ideas of how to handle this war--estimated that this war will cost us a MINIMUM of 5 trillion dollars. Don't we have better things to do with cash we don't have?

I'm retired, but I do have experience in hospital central service operations. I'll donate some hours to run the autoclave or make up trays if they'll have me.

While she used powerful words in accepting the Speaker’s gavel that wrapped herself in the flag of God-fearing American patriotism, her deeds of the past speak far louder. Pelosi is pro-homosexual marriage, pro-abortion, even pro-partial birth abortion. She has voted against tax cuts, against the Patriot Act, against allowing the words “under God” to remain in the pledge of allegiance, and against allowing public displays of the Ten Commandments. She has voted against stopping illegal immigration. And Pelosi has worked to undermine traditional marriage, even by voting against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.
Pelosi closed her acceptance speech with a phrase associated with the Communitarian Network when she said, “Let us all stand together to move our country forward, seeking common ground for the common good.” The Communitarian Network is a self-described “coalition of individuals and organizations who have come together to shore up the social, moral and political environment…a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, transnational association."
Communitarian doctrine puts government above individual rights by developing democratic consensus often using moral issues.

This is all BS, He's only saying he wants to send more troops, it's a ploy to blame democrats when they say no. He's already given up on Iraq, Saddam is dead, that's all he ever really cared about....to avenge his dad ("Saddam tried to kill my dad"... remember that speech?).

The Democrats know that a US victory in Iraq would be a political disaster for them.

They will do everything they can to ensure a defeat.
