'Light' Miracle Whip.
Or make your own with olive oil, no preservatives, etc.
Plain yoghourt will work in some recipes.
This looks bad, but:

Try making your own mayonnaise.
1/2 cup herb or cider vinegar
1 egg
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp seasalt (optional)
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
Blend the first 4 ingredients well. Then add the oil slowly and continue to blend till the mixture is thick. Place in a covered bottle or jar,and let stand for an hour at room temperature. Then refrigerate till needed.
----------------------------------------
Or use sour cream or yogart intead. If your recipe calls for one tablespoon of mayonnaise, then it probably is not a necessary ingredient, and can be omitted. But mayonnaise is just eggs and oil, whipped to the maximus.
It probably would have been better to give an example of a particular recipe you are thinking of cooking.

Try using a lighter version of the mayonnaise. It comes 50% calories and fat, or you can get 10%. But the taste of the 10% is awful if you ask me! The 50% is much better. Also, what are you making? In some cases you could use non-fat yogurt, but usually not. You won't get the same results.

I know what you mean - try whipping low fat ricotta with some lemon juice, salt and pepper - it's quite tasty substitute. Good Luck (I'm on 1200 calories a day so I can sympathise!)

I often substitute plain, no fat yogurt for mayo. I make my own salad dressings this way.
Also, cottage cheese is a great substitute for sour cream on a baked potato.
Peace.

I prefer both fruits and fruit and vegetables better, regardless how they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

In the event it's a fruit it includes seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.

Try Vegenaise. It's available in health food stores. Try Whole Foods. They have Vegenaise and Nayonaise. My wife swears by Vegenaise.

don't count calories. eat healthy fats and take flaxseed oil to increase your ratio of omega-3's. (ultimately our ratio of omega-3's to omega-6's should be 1:1) Fat doesn't work like other calories, i.e. carbohydrates. Just try to get mayo that is made from healthy fats and enjoy.
