How do I protect my computer speakers' cords from being chewed through by the cat?

Question

I have a cat that for some reason won't seem to stop chewing through the computer cords. We already got a cord protecter to stop her from messing with the internet cord, but she can still mess with the speaker cords & there are visible bite marks. How do I stop her from chewing up the cord? We aren't going to get rid of the cat and kicking her *** won't help because I know she doesn't know any better. I'm thinking either wrap the cord with duct tape or cover it in hot sauce so she'll learn not to do it again. Any other ideas?

Hot sauce definately works unless you get a cat who actually likes it. One of mine does but luckily he never was a chewer. You can also try vinegar. One good thing that would work is to turn the ape on the cords so the sticky side faces out. Cats hate tape and this would definately keep the cat off. Good luck!

Food stuff, like hot sauce, will get messy, smelly and sticky over time and can drip on carpets or desk or discolor thing they come in contact with. Duct tape, the same plus if you ever need to add or remove a cable think about all the sticky tape you have to try and unwrap. Not a good idea.

The best thing is to try and route the cables differently to try and expose less of the cable. Also, try searching on cable/cord covers or stop by a Radio Shack or home improvement store. They will have plenty of ideas and also carry wire and cord management products. A harder plastic covering may help your cat find the cable less 'tasty'!

There is a product specifically for this problem called Bitter Apple. It is a liquid which you put on the cords and tastes awful to the cat. Most pet stores sell it.

I believe the bitter apple from a pet store comes in a spray form. That would be less messy and smelly than the hot sauce.

Wrap the wires in a plastic tube. They sell ones made on purpose, but any tough round tube, cut on one side and big enough to hold in all your wires should do the job.

hot sauce didn't even work for my cats.
BUT.
office depot does have something called a Cable Organizer. it's heavy plastic and has a sticky back. you can put it up high, stick it to the wall.
at first i left it on the floor. but it didn't work so we stuck it to the wall!

and THEN brush with hot sauce...worked for me :)

squirt kitty with squirt gun/water when approaching the cords or majke very loud noise when kitty is chewing cords--EVERY time. my kitten does not go certain places in my boat because i made stereo loudest when kitty went there. works.

I think you should keep your computer in another room away from your cat(s).

tape your wires up to the celing, it worked with my cats.
