an engagement ring, more like an appreciation ring, but is very special because he worked hard and saved up for it (over $600). I had also told him I loved it a couple of months ago when we were at Saks and looking at the David Yurman jewelry. When his mom saw it Christmas day, she went out and bought one EXACTLY like it the next day for his little sister. Does this not seem weird to anyone? I was pretty upset about it because it doesnt seem special anymore like it was meant to be. His mom does this anytime I get something new, like purses, bags, jewelry, clothes, ANYTHING. The ring was kind of my last straw. Any opinions about this?

We (my boyfriend and I) have talked about it. I'm looking for opinions from people who might have been in a situation like this before.

Sound like she has some sort of mental problem. I used to have a sister in law like that. She is now institutionalized.

I don't have those albums. I'm not really into either of those bands. BQ: Have you bought any albums this year yet? Not yet. BQ2: Least favourite accent? (you better not say Irish lol) All accents are lovely in their own way. An Irish accent is very nice plus the slang words the Irish have added to the english language and the survival of Irish Gaelic are very interesting. But I don't have a least favorite accent. BQ3: How was your day? Cold BQ4: Shuffle 5? "Blue Turning Gray" Clap Your Hands Say Yeah "Major's Tilting Victory" The Cribs "Strange" REM "Something I Learned Today" Husker Du "Do The Strand" Scissor Sisters

Take it as a compliment .. she obviously loves your taste in EVERYTHING!! If you don't take it as a compliment the relationship could be strained and that would be no fun since it sounds like she is going to be a major part of your life for----ever!

You picked him and thats his mother, you have to put up with her or else it will cause problems. Tell him how you feel and ask him "Would this have to be the pattern of our lives when we are married?"
Better know what you are in for now before its too late.

This ring is a bond between you and your new fiance, sounds like you are more jealous bc she got the ring you wanted and you didn't.
Appreciate it bc it's from him and what it means...
besides, he'll upgrade to what you like eventually.... be happy...don't spoil it for him, you said he worked hard, he's proud..be proud.

WTF? The mom obviously has some issues. She is just so sad to see her little boy grow up. Ask your boyfriend what the heck was she thinking.
