If these are your own puppies, no you don't. If they're someone else's puppies, no one should be allowed in to see them that's not immediate family - no need to stress the mother or risk infecting the puppies with anything.

Well, I would wait to hold them or a few hours after they are born. Let the mom clean them and feed them. Where they are should already be between 85-88 degres, so a towel isnt necessary. But make sure its ok with mom before you hold them. If you are going to be around the pups, you want to have your scent on them, but if not- dont touch!

If theyre very new, and havent been near their mother long enough, its best to use a towel, so your smell isnt on them.

But as for a puppy thats a couple weeks old... i wouldnt hold it in a towel. Wheres the fun in that?

All the breeders that I've worked with will handle newborns themselves, but don't allow other people to touch the puppies until they are older.

OMG YES U HAVE TO HOLD IT IN A BLANKET OR TOWEL. THEY NEED IMMIDIATE WARMTH, JUST AS A PERSON IS WRAPPED IN TOWELS WHEN THEY ARE BORN!!!

some times the mom will reject them but l do not think the average dog will reject it. but breeders have to handle them during birth and and the mom does not reject it.
