Well, you can't really rely on others to show you which religion is the most true word of God because all will give you a different answer. If you truly want to be shown your path, turn to God, pray to him in the manner you think is best and you feel the most connection. It is good that you have explored because even if you return to the religion you were raised on, you have a better understanding of your religion, plus the knowledge of other religions to boot. When you're most confused and can't find your way, look inside. You may find that the answer you are looking for was there all along.

If one particular religion was the real truth, don't you think people would be converting left and right? There is no god or true religion. Think about it. Can any religion offer you actual divine proof? By divine proof I mean anything not created by man. Every single item in every single religion is man made. You would think if there really were a good that he would have given some proof to his followers, as he wouldn't want them to follow the wrong religion and go to hell or be punished in the afterlife. I know since you were raised as a christian you will have a very hard time letting go of the information that was drilled into your head. Even though I absolutely know their isn't a god, I will not even try to force that on you. Become an agnostic at the very least. They believe in a higher power, but don't follow any particular religion. This way if you live your life by what you know in your heart to be the best way possible and believe in a higher power that should be enough for any god. What kind of god would condemn someone to hell for being confused? From what the bible tells us, god is the only one that is perfect and makes no mistakes. Therefore if we were made by god, he did it knowing we would be imperfect and prone to make mistakes. How could he condemn us for doing what he made us to do? I hope this helps clear things up a bit for you. I hate to see someone confused and trapped by false belief as you seem to be. It is only unneeded stress in your life.

Chose the religion that follows the word of God strictly, with no compromise. That means it is bible based, the bible being used one that is translated from the original Greek and Hebrew scriptures and not just some johnny-come-lately- translations that are self serving. God's commands are not hard to follow. Matt 11:30 "For my yoke is kindly and my load is light" God will not impose harsh demands on you that is hard to follow. Everything that he commands you to do is for your own benefit.
Also if you get the chance attend their religious services and observe how their followers interact to one another. Do they show love for each other or just pack up and leave and ignore each other after the service is finished? For the true followers of Jesus Christ has love for each other, just as Jesus Christ has stated in John 13:34-35 "I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves." I have seen how in one denomination, a fight almost broke out because of a parking space dispute by people getting ready to attend religious ceremonies. True disciples? True religion?
and oh, by the way, there is a God, Virginia ! One who created
you in His own image that is why you are able to communicate, write essays, talk english (instead of barking like a dog or meowing like a cat) and think.. although I seriously doubt this ability is being used most of the time..

i believe that the truth stands out from error. i also believe that religion is innate. everyone knows the truth when they recognise it. it is part of a covenent we all took before God before we were born. (the fitrah in Arabic). In that convenent, we all said that God is alone and You do we worship. In life however, many people strayed away from this and started worshipping more Gods, deifying themselves etc. thats why prophets had to be sent to remind mankind of this message hence the many prophets (Noah, Abraham, Jesus, Muhammad etc.). anyway, so i [as a Muslim] believe that every child is born with this awareness but it is his parents that make a child turn from the true path and at the time, the child is too young and not strong enough to make the decision to fight against that so accpets the religion. but after the child has grown.. it is his and every othe rman's duty to seek the truth and follow it. search and search again because in the myriad of religions you will find the one. one like no other. one with a book of beauty like no other you have seen. and so you may find yourself with queries that puzzle you and things that at the time seem bizarre to you but you will find your answer. just pray that God Almighty will help you on your path. I pray that you will.

We have no way to know the "real truth" which is why all religions are based on faith. If you believe there is a Divine Creator, find a spiritual path that works for you and follow it. Answers will come to you in your search and you will advance, change and modify your beliefs as you go. You may even wind up back at the place you started with what you learned from your dad.

I have had a similar past. There are aspects of truth in most beliefs, but when I became familiar with the Concept of Rational Spirituality, I instantly recognised it as the Truth. This concept logically integrates and explains all the valid aspects of various religions. Like, for example the heaven and hell. They are given different names in the CRS, but an intelligent person can easily recognise them. Or, the "seven steps to Divinity" as found in Buddhism are explained in relation to Christ as the Son of God, etc, etc.
Conveyed only in February 2006, Rational Spirituality had already changed many intelligent people's lives. If it gives you half as much peace and joy as it gave me, I will not regret the time it took me to reply to your question.

It all depends on what you believe. Any religion will say it is closest to the Bible, Torah, Qur'an, whatever. It doesn't matter what THEY say is true, it matters what you say is true (to you.)
Someone once asked a question of my Rabbi. "Which religion do you think is closest to what G-d really wants?" He replied in drawing a bulls-eye on the board, and a dot close to where the center is. "This," he says, "is Judaism. And the center is the word of G-d." He drew another dot, farther from the center but still pretty close. "This is Islam." He draws another one, a little farther away. "This is Chrstianity." He then drew another bulls-eye on the board, and drew a dot close to the center. "If I was a Muslim, this is where I would draw Islam. This is where I would draw Chrstianity, and this is where I would draw Judaism," he said, making the three successive dots.
Story I heard somewhere.

I have went through this myself. I still have no real answer. I do not go to church as i do not want to waste years following the wrong religion just to end up in hell anyway so I live as true to my beliefs as i can. i try to be good and understanding not judging others. I know that i fall back at times but i hope the good in my heart that i show and give to others makes up for the shortcomings i have. I am after all human. Good luck!!

I'm a Muslim. If you want to learn about Islam, there's no better ways than understanding the true meaning of Islam's holy book - the holy Quran. Kindly visit www.tafsir.com for authoritative interpretation (exegesis) of the holy Quran, based on the works of one of Islam's most prominent and distinguished classical scholar, Imam Ibnu Kathir (God be pleased with him).
Kindly visit http://www.usislam.org/69ecum.htm for information about "The Ecumenical Councils of Church" written by Dr. Adel Elsaie, the author of the book "History of Truth: The Truth about God and Religions"
I pray that God would simplify your affairs for you.
God knows best.
Peace and Love.

Every one believes differently, there is no "right religion"
Though I beilieve strongly in Christianity, some things I don't agree with and others I do.
For example, someone who is an aethiest might believe God is there but not believe in Him. They might believe in aethiesm, but also parts of another religion like Christanity.
I don't think one religion is completely right, but if you take some from every religion you will have a right one.
