I bought a freeview USB dongle. It only cost £20 and with it hooked up to my external aerial I get the five standard TV channels and the free digital ones on my computer without paying out for fancy software or video cards.

Years ago, we used something called "Rabbit Ears". This was an antenna which sat on or near the television, and was attached to it, by a sort cable. This allowed us to pick up the signal from the local broadcasters.

Log on to the tv channel's web site and watch it live.
