I don't agree. I trust my dad by choice not desperation. He earned it with consistently keeping his promises.

Trust is a choice. It is earned by the one being trusted. Coming through with whatever was supposed to be, either by promise, committment, or devotion. The person who trusts is a lucky one as they have only seen honesty and truth. The one who doesn't, lives in a life of lies, deceit, and dishonesty. They don't know how to trust because they have been betrayed. Sad but true...They have literally got to relearn by behavior what honesty and truth is before they realize that it's possible. Control doesn't enter this catagory unless it is a way to conceal fear of losing or being betrayed by those of importance....

i think that trust can be done because of moral courage and it can also be done for the reasons decribed in the quote
