I just bought a carton of eggs and was making scrambled eggs for the family. 9 of 12 of them were double yolks.

What do you think? Is this some government conspiracy or aliens at work? Or maybe just hormones? Maybe the eggs are possessed and the other yolk is a demon chicken? Help, this is driving me crazy!

Actually, I'm not crazy if that's what you are all thinking. I just thought it was wierd, considering I've only seen a few double yolks in my life, and I thought it was wierd that 3/4 of the carton was double yolk.

Happened to me several years ago . . .
I called the suppliers rep as their feed was suppose to be hormone free and I suspected they were getting the antibiotic & hormone feed.
The supplier said they were new hens because the previous batch had been 'retired' due to bird flu concerns.
He said new hens frequently lay double yolks , but since then I have hens and none of the new ones are giving me doubles . . . so . . . still a mystery to me.

I think you should get in contact with the company that supplied the eggs. They'd be just as interested in it as you are. I've seen quite a few double yolks in my time, but nothing like that. Something is obviously going on.

yes I have, our local farm started out with little chicks, as the chicks matured, they first laid very tiny eggs, as time went on
there were all of a sudden two-yolkers. now the eggs are all normal (1 yolk).
maybe the 6 roosters had something to do with it.

I've seen them many times... but not for a while.
They are normal, and still very yummy!
Yeah, 3/4 of a carton is kind of weird...!
