It is different because you hear information and decide if you agree with it and take it to heart. Most atheists claim to have gone to church at one point but are now Atheists. How did they escape this fierce brainwashing? They simply decided they don't believe it and walked away. Try that in a cult and get back to me.

Brainwashing is days of the same thing. Going to church 52 weeks out of the year only gives you one Bible chapter. Not enough to brainwash anybody. Now, if you want to get brainwashed right, then read the whole Bible for yourself. There is something about Jesus Christ that changes not only the brain and mind but everything else.

You don't go to church to be brainwashed. You go to congregate and be around like minded people. You go to learn. You go to be refreshed. You go to pray., You go to praise the Lord. You go to give thanks.
Can you do this at home? Yes but we also need to be like sheep to the Shepard. If you have a good Shepard at your church learn from them. If you don't find one and in the interim keep praying.
God Bless

Brain Wash is actually a great term. Yes I have been brain washed and body washed and spirit washed and soul washed too. I had no desire to keep my old mind. I saw what my best efforts could accomplish. Nothing.
Now I actually want to wake up every day.

It isn't. It reinforces the delusion (if all these people believe this too, it must be right). Everyone believed that the world was flat once, too.
