Hi,
I very much doubt that this would be an egg, you'd tell straight away if it is an egg
You need to get the bird to a vet a.s.a.p, even if you cant pay for it to have treatment,
By the sounds of it, the birds bowels and organs have slipped out of his bottom!
I Have had it happen to one of my breeding macaws, only about 2 months ago i have to push it back in with my little finger(yes sick i know) and rush it to the vets,
The parakeet will be to small to enable you to do this, you have no choice but to take it to the vets as it will kill the birdy if left untreated!
Besides, anything coming out of a birdy with blood on is a warning sign straight away, so get it to a vets before it suffers too much!

Female birds lay eggs without males all the time. The opening is one. It's the cloaca. Hopefully, the egg is not egg bound which means it's stuck and usually results in death of the bird. Good luck and I hope this helped some.

My daughter had a Sun Conure that laid an egg every now and then, and it was the only bird around! I'd keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't come out all the way soon, so you can be sure that's what's going on..get to your avian vet:)
Good Luck!

Wanna bet?? If you have a female cockatiel (sometimes parakeets, too) they will lay eggs---ours did it all the time--the 1st one on Easter Morning. Just take it out of the cage as it's an unfertilized egg and nothing is going to hatch. Hope this clears up your question.

you should be more specific. It COULD be an egg. Just depends on the type of bird. Some birds lay unfertilized eggs.

listen to worldchampatpool. He/she is right. Prolapsed rectums/cloaca is not only somewhat common, it's deadly. the bird needs to go to the vet ASAP, even if it's to be euthanized.
I'm really sorry, but unless you take the bird to the vet, it won't make it.

The cloaca is a multi-purpose hole for birds: their wastes come out of it, they have sex by putting their cloacas together, and females lay eggs out of it.
