fish is a natural food for cats. tuna processed for human consumption is no good for cats--so please give just a taste--if kitty wants tuna, please give kitty kitty tuna so kitty gets all the nutrients we take out when tuna is processed for people.
the natural fats and oils in fish are excellent sources of nutrients for kitty's fur skin and nails, not to mention kitty's brain. very important part of the diet.
too much ash, however, is bad for kitties.
magnesium and manganese are ash to kitties. they are in preservatives used to can tuna for peeps----be stingy with nibbles of your sammich for kitty.

not really sure what a cat's attraction to fish is, but I have been told that it is good for their health; you just can't give it to them all the time. Anytime I had a cat around with tuna fish, I would just give it the juice out of the can instead of throwing it away. Or mix the juice in its dry food every so often.

High in protein... smells good... fish a special treat for cats! My boys just love the stuff- but spend more time drooling at the fish tank than eating fish.
A little bite of your tuna once in a while won't hurt him- BUT, fish is high in fat and enzymes that will be bad for his health in large or regular quantities.

It is not a good idea to give your cats tuna fish out of the can, however. This actually isn't good for them because it is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, which can be difficult for them to digest and process, so it can lead to a form of kidney disease. What I do is pour a little of the juice, which is mostly water with flavor, in a little dish. They usually enjoy it and then you don't have to worry about making your cats sick.

Cats fish in their natural habitats, and it's a good source of nutrients... so they are instinctively attracted to the smell.

Cats are predators, and fish is a prime source of protein. It's what they live for, besides catnip.
