I recently wanted layers in my hair but I figured I'd save money and cut my own. Well my hair is pretty thick so when i was done it just looked like I had hacked off a couple inches off the top of my hair. I want to fix it without cutting the extra inches underneath. Or at least make it look better...HELP!

the reason i cut my own layers was becuase the salons in my area are HORRIBLE with my hair. They have no idea how to cut it and I've cut my own hair before many times. This time I just would like to take it down but if I do the top layer poofs out from the bottom.

Spend the money and get your hair cut now by a professional. They can advise you on the cutest and best cut to achieve the look you want. They should be able to fix it without having to cut too much off. Let them know BEFORE they start, the look you were trying for. They may be able to keep it long and not have to cut too much by just evening it out.

You should definitely go see a stylist. You might be able to save most of your length. It sounds like you just cut one layer or a "shelf" into your hair. Ask your stylist to keep the layer you've cut as your shortest layer, and have her blend the bottom portion of your hair into it.

this seems pretty hopeless. i don't understand why you would do that instead of getting a 10 dollar hair cut, but now you are really going to have to get it cut short. maybe spiked outward with highlights or a new color. maybe a new look like the one above that's in style will be a good thing for the new year. but if you chopped off a lot, try get hair sculpted to your head in a cute way, like molly-Sue's from America's next top model two seasons ago. it looks really good!!! or maybe Kira knitley's new hairstyle. here is the website you can go to to find it:

There is a saying "cheap comes out expensive". Your attempt at being frugal is only going to cost you money, You have to pay someone to repair the damage. If you try to cut it again, it will only make it worse.

That's your own fault. Nobody without proper training should EVER attempt to cut their own hair. Get to a salon ASAP, tell them what you've done and see how they can fix it.

I would suggest going to a salon to get it fixed. A professional will be able to work it out.

bring a picture to the salon of what you want your hair to look like. And if you don't like what they did tell them and have them fix it.
