Of course there is God. Who holds the sky up? Who gives us life? Who gives us death? Who made the seas and the deserts and the universe?
I don't believe we are God's children. We are all Adam and Eve's children. They were the first humans. God made them from mud. They had children, their children reproduced, and the rest is history.

That deity was created just as all the others: as a way to explain a world that seemed strange, wonderous or even dangerous. However, the fact that so many people believe (quite whole-heartedly) in this god and do works in his name, it makes his influence quite real.

When someone is slaughtering your children or feeding the homeless, that person's motivation, regardless of how you feel about it, is as real as anything else... to them. So is the knife, and so is the food. Think of it like a schizophrenic being taught to play a piano by one of his hallucinations. The hallucination isn't real, but the piano and the music still are.

Yes, I very much believe in God and we are metaphorically children of God. God didn't give birth to us but He did in fact create us. We are also brides and bridegrooms of Jesus Christ and when the Holy Spirit is called up from the earth, we will reign with Jesus at God's side in Heaven.

The non believers will perish in the lake of fire that was created by God for Satan and his angels.

For those of you who believe in evolution instead of creationism, answer the question as to why there is a missing link to evolution and why did Darwin also agree that there was no such thing as evolution in later life?

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. i agree exactly to zara k. there is a God (Allah) but we can never be called 'His children' because we would be associating ourselves with the infinite while we are only finite beings. that would make no sense. God is too great for us to compare to Him, He is unimaginable to us because anything we would imagine would be something we have seen or a part of creation and the Lord is the *creator not the creation. We do not share Almighty God's attributes at all. He is our Lord but NEVER our father.
