I read in a cat book that to introduce a baby kitten to an older cat have them drink some warm milk together near each other in seperate bowls. I tried it with my two cats and they became inseperable. even if they don't get along great in the begining they should start to losen up and be friends. it may also be a good idea to play with both of them at the same time like draging a string around and having them try to get it.but what ever you do don't try to put the cats together because they will end up hating each other

The best way is to put your kitten in a cat cage, or a pet carrier, and let your grown cat investigate through the cage. Do this for about a week. You can fit a tray of cat litter inside the carrier, also food and water. Once a week is up, then open up the door of the cage, and let the kitten and grown cat get closer to one another. You still may have to watch to make sure there will be no fighting going on. They will slowly adjust to one another, and when the kitten feels safe to venture out of the cage it will. There should be no problems. Good luck!!

Show the baby kitten to the grown cat when the baby kitten is asleep and let the grown cat spend with the kitten under your your observation to make the grown cat to get used to the kitten. After a while the kitten will understand there is nothing to worry about if the grown cat does not harm the kitten.

I put the adult cats away when I have a new kitten. Let the kitten get used to the house and have a sense of ownership and belonging. And then introduce them for short periods of time.
If you have male cats dont leave them alone with the kitten until the kitten is large enough to defend itself or run away. Male cats will kill kittens that are not their offspring. I lost a whole litter of barn cats to a nuetered male.

I would something that will cover up their scents (perfume, body spray, etc) on each of them. This will make the older one think the kitten smells like him, and have no reason to hurt the kitten.
or
Keep the adult in a cat carrier, and put the kitten by the door of the carrier so they can smell each other, and get use to the other one being there.

very very slowly...keep them in the same house but in separate rooms for a couple of days...let them smell each other ...get use to each other...you can then put them each in a cat carrier but in the same space...for a few hours at a time..until they start pawing at each other and you can see it is safe to let them out...
or
you can do what I do ..introduce them right away and let them work it out for themselves. If the older cat is neutered the likely hood is that he/she will sulk for a few days...the kitten will be fine...
I brought home Max as a 5 week old kitten - to our Junior who is 8 years old...Junior wasn't really happy about at first ...then he sort of tolerated the little gaffer for a few months and now -they are the best buddys

Make sure all hiding places in your home are blocked and then just bring that baby in. If the kitten can hide, it will, and you will have an anti social kitty. If the kitten is forced to be in the open, they will get used to eachother in a few days and all will be well.

i keep separate food for older cast and kitten--they each need different amounts and types of nutrients--one is growing and one is grown. do not feed cats milk from cow--they are lactose intolerant. show the older cat the kitty --splain to older cat that this is new kitty and older cat is momms. the older kitty needs to know position in family is not changed.kitten needs to know that kittn will not be killed. kitten is new in the home--does not even know where the litter pan is---keep a kitten sized pan for kitten so kitten has own litter, but let kittwen access the other cats pan to smell the other at and get used to her/him. i hold both on my lap as i introduce them to each other and let them sniff easch other--when they growl, i splain to each that they are ok, no one is going to hurt them---usually thake between 1 day and 1 week--depending on th e cats. a female cat MIGHT take to a male kitten better than to a female kitten, as the female kitten will become rival for topcat position with older cat later.male kittens are in a lower position in the cat family, so not a threat to female older cat.
if the older cat is male and the kitten ios male life could be interesting--male cats do not necessarily feel obligated to nurture kittens. if kitten does something older cat doesnot approve of, he will teach kitten the hard way not to do it anymore.in time they will get along, but there will be question of position in jthe cat family as kitten grows up--so expect bouts of insecurity from the older male as kitten matures.
have fun with the kitties!

Its standard for the cat has been residing interior the homestead to hiss at a sparkling animal because of the fact it has a sparkling heady scent that it is not conscious of. only enable them to dangle out with one yet another and do they are very own element, do not rigidity them to be close to one yet another. quickly sufficient they are going to be friends.
