Different people react differently to different medications.

A lot of factors come into play; tolerance to the medication, past medical history, your metabolism, your weight etc.

People have different sensitivities and responses to medication. Generally ibuprofen does not have a sedative effect, but sometimes people say that. The antihistamine in Nyquil makes most people drowsy, but some people are not affected by it.
