Sounds like your dog is making a bid to become Alpha. Previously he would submit to you as "leader of the pack" and now for some reason he is wanting to take that spot away from you.
I dont know what age your dog is... could be just a part of doggie puberty... or if there have been any changes in the house that have disrupted the normal routine. But both of these can trigger dogs to change their position in the hierarchy of the pack (and your dog sees you and your housemates as his pack).
Since it is obviously not alot of urine, it does not sound like a bladder problem, but you might want to check with your vet.
Some basic obedience training will help assert your dominance, or if you have done that a refresher class or a more advanced class.... also things like agility training or flyball make you and your dog a team but places you in the authority role.
dont let this go on.. because if it is a bid for the alpha position, other more problematic behaviors could also start (growling, defending his food dish and (hopefully not but possible) biting).
Check with your vet, local humane society, or reputable dog breeder for contacts for training clubs near you.

He's either marking his territory or he does it when you leave the house. If he is marking his territory,he can still smell it on the mattress and he will continue to do so until you remove the smell completely(which probably means getting a new mattress-and keeping him out of the room).
If he is doing it because he doesn't like being left by you,you will probably have to gate him in somewhere while you are gone, because even if you block access to the room he will take it out on you in another room, and also get some vet advice on what to do about this behavior.Hope this helps!

It is a dominance thing, he is marking his territory and letting yo know that he is leader of the pack. don't allow him on any furniture and use a spray bottle whenever you see him going on the bed. never let him sleep on the bed or he thinks it is his territory. and finally if all else fails keep your door closed.

my daughter had the same problem with her male dog. The only thing I was could think of is that he felt threatened and was marking his territory.

It's a dominance issue. He is showing you his contempt. Once more, go to leerburg.com and read or listen to Ed's article on dealing with dominant dogs and what you can do about it.

I presume it is a male dog, and he is marking his territory. In other words, you are his territory! He needs to be neutered.

Probably b/c he gets too excited when he sees you. Just tap him on the noise every time you catch him wet your bed and then he should stop. Hope I could help!
