Alright, this may sound bad at first but hear me out x]

I just recently turned 14 years old (I'm a freshman) and am currently dating a senior- 17, soon to be turning 18.

Is he too old for me?

We've been going out for about 4 months. Never doing anything sexual, mind you, only quick pecks on the lips and the usual assortment of chivalry (putting his arm around me, etc)

I would say I have a pretty good head on my shoulders and know when to leave a relationship if things were to get out of hand.

My BF is definately on the geeky side, not the player type, and he's certainly not looking for "fresh meat." As a matter of fact, my parents approve! He's respectful and sweet.

Still, the age difference makes things awkward at times. What do you guys think?

yes, you're too young for him, date some1 from your own class and grade.
believe me, you will be happier with some1 close to your age.

I say age is less important than maturity. From what you say, it sounds like things are fine. Three or four years seems like a huge difference when you're in high school, but give it five years and it won't be such a big deal. Another ten years and you'll be practically the same age! :o)

As long as there's mutual respect and you're not being secretive, I'd say you have a mature relationship and good for you.

Best of luck!

Well age is just age only 3 or 4 years apart isn't that big of a difference once you turn 18. So as long as you are doing nothing so far as of sex its fine. IF you do have sex though be careful and you should think about putting youself on the pill or having him always wearing a condum. AGE IS AGE- love is above all that!

When i was a frosh, i dated a senior. Its no big deal. As long as you like him, he likes you, and your parents approve, regardless of age difference, then go for it. The biggest hurdle for age-different relationships at your age is parental approval, and you have that. Congratulations!!! Understand, however, the legal consequences if you two have sex. You do seem to have a good head on your shoulders. I think you'll be fine. :)

(i lost my virginity when i was 14, and my bf almost got thrown in jail...so i know what im talking about here!!)

I think that if your parents approve and your relationship is good it shouldnt matter what others think.

Though if you feel awkward about the age differance maybe talk to a trusted friend or even him about it

He sounds Like a great Guy

Parents approving is the main thing. I know I wouldn't approve of my niece dating a senior. But in about a year when he is out of high school and you are a sophmore you will probably be at very different points in your life. So be prepared.

I think its fine. When i was 14 my bf was 16 but he deffinaltly wanted sexual things but didn't get them so we broke up but sounds like your bf is a good pick as long as your parents approve and you like him then i don't see a problem

Maturity usually is'nt determined by "years old". Its ok if he's older but be careful you don let him minipulate you into doing something too soon. Also you may want to watch to see if he is generally interested in younger girls than you. I think he may be hitting the lower limit if he is almost 18

if you feel comfortable then its fine but if you were dating a 14 year old then he wouldnt be as sweet i say that age is just a number and sometimes you will feel awkward when your around his friends but thats normal and he must be a nice guy if your parents aprove so i say the age difference is fine

this is basically whether or not you trust your judgement and maturity,,if you know you can not be pushed into something you are not ready for and know he isnt going to push then fine,,be happy, being 18 doesnt mean he is going to turn into a sex monster and being 14 doesnt mean you wont think about sex but if between you ,you can be sensible you have a shot at a quite stable relationship for however long it lasts.

This is the exact same age that me and my bf were when we started dating! Same exact situation actually! So i dont think there is anything wrong with it as long as you both like eachother:) email me if you have more questions...
