No- they will take your return.
If you are married you can file -Injured Spouse- that way your spouses return won't be taken to pay for your child support debt. But YOUR portion of the tax return WILL be taken.
If you file- Married filing jointly- the entire return (even your spouses return) will be taken for your chiild support debt.
If you are single- it doesn't matter how you file. Your whole tax return will be taken to pay for your child support debt up to the amount that you are behind. If you owe $500 in CS and your return is $600 then you'll still get $100 back.

If you OWE the IRS, there is no return for them to take. However, I agree with most of the previous answers, you should pay what you owe. To directly address your question, no, you can't prevent any refund you are due from going toward your back child support.

You need to change your W 2 so you don't get a refund in the future. I can't think of anything you can do this year. You might be able to get a lawyer and go to court to get your child support reduced. I know they hide alimony in child support and sometimes it puts undue strain on a paying person guy or gal. Nobody ever seems to care about this except for the people who are getting screwed. Our current system of basing child support solely on the payers income is bad for the economy because it causes some to not earn higher incomes. Why earn it if you can't keep it? It's like what happend to Ronald Ragon when he got rich. The goverment taxed him so much he took most of the year off. No point going to work if it is for almost nothing. good luck.

Are you asking how you can file your income taxes so that you can prevent the child support registry from taking it so that you can continue to avoid paying child support? Shame on you. For god's sake support your child (children).

NOPE, cant hide any of it. well, the honor system doesnt work, so the states got tired of paying for deadbeats children and made that law for a reason.
they will take all state and federal refunds. that means you owe a fairly large amount if they even have a tax refund intercept on you.

I don't think there is. Why wouldn't you want to pay it and get caught up? I'm sure it would be nice to have some extra money but those are your babies (baby) and you should help support them.

No, since your support and your tax information is linked via your social security number.
