I have not filed since 1999 and was due to receive about 1200 that year on my tax return. The company i worked for is no longer in business. Is it still possible to track down this w2, and, to file this return?

You can still FILE the tax return. You can only claim a refund for up to 3 years after the original date the return was due. The 1999 return was due April 17, 2000 (April 15 was a Saturday). That gives you until April 17, 2003 to claim the refund. You are 3 years and 9 months late.

When the business closed, it had to produce all the paperwork for all of its employees. Contact your local IRS as they will be able to assist you with tracking down the paperwork.

Good luck!

You can file it, but you're way too late to get your refund.
