speaking in "tounges"
when a person speaks in tounges the holy ghost has gotten into them. Tounges is a lanquage that we as humans can't understand..not even whom ever is speaking it. Its a lanqauge used only for God's Understanding. :)

Tongues translated in the KJV should have been translated "LANGUAGES" and the italicized "unknown" should not have been used.
Tongues in the beginning Church Age, see Acts and Corinthians was used to Share the GOSPEL in the language of the persons visiting the Church.
There have been MANY ABUSES of the so called Gift of Tongues and all can be Traced to THE VIOLATION OF 1Corinthians 14:20-to-36.
Take your Bible and LIST the things there, and ask if your Experience of Tongues = KEEPS SCRIPTURE = or Violates Scripture!
GOD is Not the Author of Confusion! Satan is!

Read joel chapter 2, then acts chapter 2, then 1 corinthians chapters 12, 13 and 14, Do this until you understand, eventually it will hit you like a ton of bricks and you will never even listen to someone who claims the gift for today.

Tounges refers to languages people speak.
Could also refer to dialects of a language in certain contexts.

A "tongue" besides being a body part, is a language. In fundamentalist christianity "speaking in tongues" is the most undignified nonsense you can imagine; behavior that would look more appropriate in the primate house at the zoo.

this, i assume pertains to some kind of spiritual or demonic possession.
when a person speaks in 'tongues' it is supposed proof that there is another entity controlling that person, as they are likely speaking a language that they have never heard before.

to speak in tongues means to speak in languages. typically, when it is used in the bible it when someone is filled with the holy spirit or god , or possesed by the devil, they speak in languages that they did not know prior to the possesion.
