Why are pigs so salty?

Pigs are not any more salty than cows or chickens, but it is popular throughout the world to preserve pork by salting it. If you want to try some pork that is not so salty, go to your butcher and request a couple of pork loin chops. Marinate them in olive oil, lemon juice, and oregano and throw them on the grill until they are just barely pink in the middle. Now that's some salt free pork you will enjoy!

Hi Kilter, have you heard the saying, "Pork is the other white meat"?
Well pig/pork...is very bland very plain tasting but when it's taken to the meat processor it will be salted and smoked wrapped and shipped to the market. Some pork is left without this process and is plain tasting, so you can add spices and marinates to it for flavor before cooking... Hope this helps ....happy new year ..from Mama Jazzy Geri

Well if you are eating cured pork, its because of the nitrates they use to cure the pork with. most pork you buy will have this unless you buy straight from the pig. LOL
