There are many serious diseases to be caught from cats and dogs including worms!!
Make sure the kittens are vacinated and get a book on rearing them and dealing with diseases etc.
PS
Some of the advice from other people above is dangerously incorrect so check with a Vet. Surgeon to make sure. Keep cleaning and using gloves etc but dont allow children to cuddle non vacinated animals if you value their health.

NO you cannot get "a tummy bug" from your kitten. If you have washed the area properly and disinfected it then you have no problem what you should be more worried about it what has coursed your kitten to get sick and you should rather be concerned about taking it to the vet to be checked out.

my cat had severe diarrhoea around the house, it was awful. You can catch a bug off cat poo, but if you havent had it yet then your ok. you can also have miscarriages from it. Same with dog poo. if you cleaned it properly and threw the gloves away you should be fine!

No you are fine, diseases and "bugs" are host specific meaning if you were a cat you could catch what your cat has but if you aren't , there is no need for concern. I too have a sever vomit phobia, its nice to know I'm not the only one.

The only worry you might have would be IF you are pregnant - if you are, have someone else handle the poop. Otherwise, you don't have anything to worry about.
Definitely take the little guy to the vet- diarrhea in a kitten is serious stuff.

What are you feeding the poor little thing? have him checked by the vet and ask his advise. Also keep his bowls clean. As long as you cleaned up and disinfected everything AND your hands you should be alright. But if your kitten becomes de -hydrated he will die.

There is a small chance you could become infected with intestinal parasites but as long as you wash your hand after cleaning it up you should be fine. I would take your cat to the vet and have it checked for intestinal parasites and get him dewormed.

it sounds as thought your kitten needs vetinarary help asap. answer to your question is you can 'catch' the bacteria In the vomit or poop, which in turn can cause a tummy upset in you. but my first reaction would be to get your kitten to the vets-quick! they can die from infections such as this.
