Ring typically is for a girl- i would suggest a chain necklace witha cross or even just a plain chain. If you still want to get a ring- I would guess that ring sizes for men run between 8-9 for an average male if he is petite then maybe a 7... but if your planning on a ring.. try to make sure you are able to resize it if it doesn't fit.. if you can't resize it a chain necklace or bracelet always is a great gift for a guy.

Does he wear a ring already? If not then be careful. Some guys don't like the idea of rings as in their head it is "girly". If he does wear a ring then sneak it, draw round it on a piece of paper and put it back. That way you will know if you get something roughly the same size, it will fit.

Well, you are probably a Sophomore in high school, so he probably ordered his class ring. Call his mom and just ask him what his ring size is. You could always make a really good guess by talking to his mom, and he can return it if it doesn't fit. Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine.

Kind of play around with him and have him try on one of your rings. It won't fit, but you'll get a better idea of the size. I wouldn't worry though, because you can always get the ring sized afterwards.

if he has a class ring for junior high ask him if you can wear it and remember about how big it is on your finger. or ask if you can wear it for the day then go buy the ring.

grab a tape measure and start measuring things. Just pretend like it is amusing you. Measure your fingers then his. Other body parts...If you two are sexually active then it is pretty obvious where it should end =).
It wont be perfect but it will give you a general idea.
