This couch is new and our little kitten has put scratches on the couch, any ideas would be greatly appreciated !! The color is black , if that makes a difference .

I believe there are kits out there for just such a mini disaster. Check a leather store, furniture store or even on line. You might want to think about keeping the little kittens nails trimmed or even removed if he is strictly an indoor kitten. It will save your hands, arms, legs, etc, plus your furniture and who knows how much more. Why am I so fresh on the subject? We also have a new kitten...he is the orneriest one we have ever had and then 5 minutes later he is the cuddliest one we ever had. We love him but he's really bad. He gets into EVERYTHING!

If your leather is an aniline style which scratches when you run your fingernail across it, then a good leather protector will get rid of these and also do your leather good.
DO NOT use shoe polish on any type of leather as it will always come off on clothes and also contains waxes etc which will do your leather no good.
If you have a pigmented/protected leather then the superficial scratches will need some colour matching for you to be able to blend them in.
Make sure yo use one where the colour is matched for you as the DIY options will not do the job.
