Do you think it was no big deal or was it indicative of something bigger? Did local media oversensationalize with a "bleed it leads" mentality or is this is the start of worse things to come?

Please keep your answers respectful but truthful.

I don't see it as over-sensationalized, it is what it is. And what it is is a sign of things to come based on happenings in recent years along the border. Many aren't aware of the importance that corridor has, it has long been an area of interest to the Islamic forces we are at war with and for even longer time, has been an important area of focus for illegal immigrants and drug runners. Very little about it has been front page in mainstream media, why I don't know. The FBI has been watching the area for a long time, submitting reports and keeping tabs on the who/what/when of the area.

Since Mexico in recent months has been supplying the border jumpers with hand held GPS systems, it should be an even bigger focus but it seems to be swept under the rug. Someone does not want their profit flow interrupted it seems. If you do a search for the terms "Phoenix, terrorism, illegal immigration", you might be surprised at what you find. Any combination of those terms will yield interesting results. I'm not talking about some deranged bloggers, but reputable news outlets of note from all points on the political bias compass. There is more here than meets the eye.

As to a connection, I would mention an old scenario. When a pack of wild animals is hungry and sees a very large animal that they could not hope to bring down individually, they band together and put numbers on their side.

There are worse things to come.

I saw this on the Fox news site, figured if I turned on the news everyone would be talking about it,,,,uh I don't think it even got a mention. I find it ridiculous that it wasn't broad-casted nation wide as an alert, or even hit the air ways during prime time.
In any other era this act would have been considered an act of war.

Here is what a deputy said from another incident when the Mexican Army was actually filmed crossing the border into our country.
"But in the meantime, this latest incident only heightens concern among law officers, and those who live along the U.S. side of the border. The Deputy involved in Tuesday's incident told KFOX, "If it's going to take a bunch of us getting killed down here on the river to show everybody that this is a problem, then its going to happen, one of these days it will happen."

This incident barely made a blip on the nightly news (National news), if it was even mentioned on some stations.
I do wonder when Washington and the rest of America will wake up ....... like the deputy said when " bunch of us getting killed".

A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team (4 men) site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.

According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.

The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.

The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area

We should not put up with this from anyone.

Well, alot of people talk about how no politician wanted to say anything about this type of issue but there was...Kinky Friedman.

If anyone cares to remember in that past Texas governor election, he said that he would send AT LEAST 10,000 National Guard and empower them to clean up the border with county sheriffs along the border. When told by a smug reporter at the only televised debate that "would require a state of emergency declaration" Kinky fired back "then I'll delcare a state of emergency!!!"

But of course, Perry got re-elected b/c Kinky wasn't "a real politician" Hey don't blame me...I voted for Kinky!

It is indicative of something bigger. Mexico has no respect for our laws and why should they? We grant immunity to a drug smuggler, twice, so that we can PERSECUTE two of our Border Patrol agents and then allow the "victim" to sue for 5 million dollars. So what message are we sending? Go ahead, cross the border at will and if someone tries to stop you we will throw THEM in jail and give YOU money.

Bush makes an agreement with Mexico to give their citizens here illegally Social Security benefits WHEN we give them amnesty. What is the message again? Go ahead and break our laws, we will grant you amnesty and reward you.

Illegal aliens march in OUR streets and have the audacity to DEMAND rights that they have not earned or are entitled to, desecrate our flag and what is done about it? Nothing.

Incidents like this will continue to occur until either our leadership does something about it or the people get so fed up with it that THEY do something about it.

I think the US and Mexico should reach an agreement allowing US Law Enforcement guys to get no more than 100 miles into Mexican Territory.
It's nothing new, German police may enter into Dutch territory as far as 50 Km and viceversa

I think we should send our army over the border to kill them. Then make their government put soldiers along the border to keep their people in. And if they do not we should occupy a 10 mile stretch of their land along the border to control the illegals. We should deploy land mines along the 10 miles of land. We should arrest illegals here seize their assets to fund their deportation and pay for border security. Mexico is actively supporting our invasion. They prop up their failed government with Billions pilfered from our country.

What I think about the shoot out in our border by the Mexicans,,I think that it STINK. This is not the first time that happened, in the border the Mexicans are doing what ever they want and our government is not doing nothing. and when the border patrol take action,, the US government put them in jail. So what should we as Americans citizen should do about our government, when is their job to protect us and the real question is,,, What is the US government doing about it. What I think,,, Nothing,, Shame on us.!!!

I think the facts should be presented and respected instead of a knee jerk reaction from people without knowing the facts. Below is a portion from the article printed yesterday in the Tucson newspaper. I hope today someone reads it and so there won't be any more postings designed to inflame.

"Armed men who prompted National Guard soldiers to leave an observation post near the Mexican border came within 100 yards of the troops, but apparently were unaware of the Guard members, authorities said Friday.
"There were no shots fired, no attacks, no overrunning of the National Guardsmen" or any contact with the group, Martinez said.
.
Maj. Paul Aguirre, spokesman for the Arizona National Guard, said those team members always carry arms for self-defense.
"There was no harm done to any of the personnel or the site," Aguirre said.
Martinez also said the soldiers did not report seeing the men carrying anything that might be contraband. "
