For the past couple of days, my usually laid back cat has been acting strange. He's 1 1/2 years old and has been raised from 7 weeks old in our house. He goes out some too. Anyway, he's been acting afraid of the tv for some reason. He sits under the table ears laid back looking at the tv like he's scared to death. We aren't watching anything different from always. I'm worried about him. What could be wrong?

he may have had a little adventure outside that scared him or your TV could be making a noise that he can hear but you can't because cats have better hearing. try unplugging your tV and plug it back in. good luck.

I suggest that you look at the TV's wires very carefully for teeth marks. Maybe your cat chewed a wire and got a shock. Also check the top for cat hairs, maybe the cat was on top and got a static shock.

I keep my TV unplugged when I am not watching it. That's always a good idea during thunderstorms, and we have a lot of them here in Kansas, but it also means that I don't worry about the cats chewing a wire and getting shocked.

Sounds like the cat could have seen something on TV a few days ago which caused it to have an instinctive reaction. Could have been a predator on Animal Planet. I used to think that animals could not perceive the TV, but my dog barks daily when another dog is on. (Even when the TV is on mute!)

he probably just noticed it. Before it was just back ground noise, because he was still a kitten and busy exploring. he probably just realized that the screen has images and noises he can associate with scary things he's seen outside.

Just watch him. Is he fixed yet? About this time an unfixed male cat can become aggressive. Watch for violent signs towards people. Sometimes even nuetered males have the same aggression. Just watch him.

Perhaps your TV is giving off a frequency that your cat can hear, but you can't. It may be hurting your kitty's ears. Your TV may have just started this.
