Yes roughly so, though neither is the same as its ancient counterpart. Syria was also a part of the Assyrian civilization. But both the cultures in present Iran and Iraq are destroyed over the years which were closer to Indian culture. The Assures were doing Vedic rituals but for mundane benefits. King Bali who was worshiped in Anatola is mentioned in Indian purans. Those vanished civilizations are at least 9000 years old.
