It is a capital offense in Islam, does the name Salman Rushdie ring a bell?

Edit:

He is a Booker Prize winning author who wrote a work of fiction called 'The Satanic Verses' published in the '80s. Ayatollah Khomeni issued a fatwa calling for his death and he went into hiding with police protection for a decade, at least two of his publishers in the muslim world were murdered.

They should question whether they really have faith if they're insulting their own religion. Since most (and almost every Western) religion has a tenet along the lines of "do not blaspheme" or "do not use the Lord's name in vain" etc. etc, insulting one's own religion is sinful - and is thus a sign of digression of true faith and conduct.

Besides which, it's perfectly fine for atheists to question the beliefs of others rationally - hopefully this will end mysticism and blind belief (some like to call it 'faith'). Mindless insults never got anyone anywhere, and whilst it is a virtue to question things, it is not virtuous to insult people's beliefs. For example, if someone believed that murdering was OK, I wouldn't insult them - I'd question their belief and hopefully influence them to rethink their attitude.

Atheism is not a religion, and atheists are allowed to do whatever they like. Whether they insult other beliefs is a matter of choice.

I'm a Christian that's been given a harder time by Christians that have differing views of abortion, feminism and evolution than I have by atheists or agnostics. On the other hand, as a Christian, I've been called a lot of things by atheists I don't agree with, "stupid" among them. People in general get very abusive at times when you don't agree with them.

(1Th 5:21) Prove all things, hold fast to the good.

There are FALSE CHRISTIANS, as well as Many False Religions = Caliming to Be TRUTH!

IF one states Something wrong, IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO = Quote the WORD OF GOD, as the Only Point of Reference for the Real Christian!

(2Corinthians 11:13-14-15) For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

(2Co 11:14) Did not even Satan marvelously transform himself into an angel of light?

(2Co 11:15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

Thanks, RR

have you ever heard of denominations?

Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc most were formed when a group of believers in the Bible saw things differently.

as far as insulting my belief, God told us to expect that

John 15:18
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

and we know why we are insulted by non believers

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

so a Christian who rages at those who insult him is in error (dont get me wrong I also have been guilty of this) because Christ says

Matthew 5:44
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

I think this is going to be the best solution for you.... Donot insult anyone for any reason. Debates are ok... but be wise about what you are going to say & how you say it.
Always a good rule to follow if you have nothing nice to say, dont say it at all....
Good luck...
