Well when dreaming, the color red usually signifies:

1) I feel intense, vital or animated.
2) I feel transformed.
3) I feel assertive, forceful.
4) I feel creative.
5) I want to live life to its fullest.
6) I want to win, succeed, achieve.
7) I feel sexy or have strong sexual urges.
8) I have a driving desire.
9) I need something to make me feel alive again.
10) I need to be more assertive and forceful.
11) I need to get out and enjoy myself.
12) If red appears as blood or inflammation – it may relate to an illness or injury

Perhaps your child feels this way. Or even better...

Baby seagulls when they hatch immediately look for the color red because the mother seagull has a red spot on her beak. When the baby pecks at the red spot, the mother regurgitates food into the baby chick's mouth, as any mother bird would do. This moves onto adulthood where seagulls are attracted to red foods (ie lobsters, crabs etc.) So perhaps your child has the instincts of a seagull. Don't be surprised if he or she grows up loving ketchup.

On a more cognitive approach, has the child been brought up with something red that is associates good memories with? Were his or her bottles red, or perhaps a favorite blanket. Do you wear the color red much when holding the child? Maybe even watching Elmo could have this effect. I would assume that the child's conscious or unconscious mind associates the color red with something pleasurable.

I hope this helps.

This is a toddler, most small kids like bright colours. It's a happy, outgoing colour that expresses the child's joy in life.
Sounds like your child is well adjusted. I'd worry if the colour of choice was grey...but red's fine.

My 5 year old loves the colour red...I think it is because it is a nice bright colour that they can see, it stands out more, he likes blue alot and he hates anything pink, because he think pink is too girly. I didn't encourage him that either.

I don't think there is any meaning to it. At that age it is kind of hard to tell what a color means in terms of mental Health. I would just relax and let it go!

There probably isn't any meaning. Most people have a favourite colour; it's completely normal, even if he appears to be obsessed with it.
