Well i read in a book that once you go to bed...
You should close your eyes and imagine that sheets on bed and your pillow is only there for you.
So you should start talking to them in your head. I know it might sound crazy.
But i had same problem, and once i tried this way... It was all good.
So give it a go.
Good Luck!

Laugh - get into the habit of laughing as you go to bed to release some of the nervousness (I try to watch Who's Line or Jon Stewart before going to be for this same reason).
Breath from your diaphram (yogic breathing some call it) like babies do. As you breath in allow your stomach to expand first and then the chest - then exhale from the chest first and then the stomach.
Count while you breath - start with the count of 3 on the inhalation and another 3 on the exhalation. Next count to 4, and then 5 - all the way to 10 (though someone once told me if you could count 16 on the inhale and 16 on the exhale that's the level you would need for deep meditation.)
Remind yourself all day long - it is getting easier and easier for me to fall asleep. It gets easier every day. The more you can repeat it and keep the negative thoughts out of your head, the quicker the problem will disappear.
Peace!

When I was young I used to listen to the news with an earphone from a small radio. I used to get tired of paying attention to what was told in the news, and got to sleep very quickly.
Now I have another method: When I go to bed I try not to move at all: Neither hands nor fingertoes. I relax my face musles beginning with the eye musles, then mouth musles, and that's it, I feel sleep coming

Why do you have to sleep on time for? What does it matter if you perhaps become a little tired the next day?
Forget about it, dont think about trying to sleep, thats the problem. Stop worryin' about it.

A glass on wine is one good way, there's also sleepytime tea sold in most grocery stores. Stay away from caffine. Also, reading in bed is a really good way to zonk out.
What ever you do, please don't resort to taking sleeping pills. There are plenty of safer ways to ease and calm yourself to sleep.

First you should see a psychologist to see why you panic when you go to bed. Fear of not waking up? Whatever you do, attack the problem before you try silly solutions. Good luck to you!
