if they get amnesty ? Whats your take on this? Is it a good or a bad thing ?
An agreement the Bush administration reached with Mexico on Social Security benefits would allow illegal aliens granted amnesty in the future to claim credit for the time they worked illegally.
The deal was reached in 2004 but never released publicly because it hasn't been submitted to Congress. The TREA Senior Citizens League, a Social Security advocacy group, recently obtained the document through a Freedom of Information Act, and said it confirms the group's worst fears.

"To get Social Security benefits, you do have to be legally in the United States. This agreement does not address in any way immigration, immigration laws or override current law," he said, adding that a 2004 law, the Social Security Protection Act, prevents illegal aliens from getting benefits.
But the seniors group said the 2004 law also states that if those aliens later get legal status -- through an amnesty or some sort of legalization plan such as the one President Bush and the Senate tried to enact last year -- they would be able to collect the benefits based on their time as illegal workers.
The deal has not taken effect because Mr. Bush has not signed it or submitted it to Congress. Once he does, Congress would have 60 days to vote against it or it automatically would become law.

Social Security for Illegal Aliens? Hell No!!!
That is totally outrageous. That is pretty arrogant of the Bush administration to make an agreement like that. WHEN amnesty is granted??? Bush should be impeached for that act alone. Doesn't he need to check with the PEOPLE first? What did we get in exchange for this agreement? Oh I see, we got the bill as usual. By making an agreement like this Bush is in violation of the Immigration and control act of 1986. He in a sense, is encouraging the people of Mexico to come to the United States illegally, promising eventual amnesty. By promising Social Security benefits he is encouraging fraud against that system...that would explain why the Senate's ill-conceived bill contained amnesty provisions for Social Security fraud. These acts are clearly aiding, abetting, and encouraging illegal enterprise. Bush and his cronies should be arrested and thrown in a Mexican prison...let his buddy Fox take care of him.

Nobody should be wanting to give ILLEGAL aliens anything, not even jobs. It is time for the silent majority to stand shoulder to shoulder and issue an ultimatum to the powers that be. THE ILLEGALS HAVE TO GO. We, as a nation, can not cope with the many social ills that we currently face such as illiteracy, illigitimacy, homelessness, etc. The Illegals will only worsen these already existing problems. Last but not least, WHAT part of illegal am I failing to understand. If it is OK to disobey immigration laws, then it should be OK to disobey any other laws. And why should I have to learn Spanish or any other language. Americans should establish English as the national language. Some of out citizens have problems with English. What will be happening if they have to learn Spanish? You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand the numerous negative ramifications. GOD HELP AMERICA!!!!

Of course it is a bad thing. Our social security funds we paid into all of our working lives will likely not be there for us, and now they want to put others in front of us to get first dibs due to greater poverty, but despite illegally being here to begin with? Social Security is to protect our citizens.
Not to mention the fact that all of these years they have been urging lack of enforcement based on the idea that social security would get to keep these funds, all the while pay outs to schools and services far exceeded what this class of people paid in. Now they want to remove that slight off set as well. And that ignores the fact that they would vest sooner than we do, and would take much more out of our system than Americans would take out of theirs.
These agreements are intended for use between countries like ourselves and Canada or the UK, where benefits are roughly similar and the disparity of people going in one direction over the other is minimal.

As an American, who because he worked for a government entity, has seen his Social Security benefits, cut to approximately forty percent, I'm against illegals getting any money which was paid into Social Security. When I worked under Social Security I paid in one hundred percent of what was due to them, due to the plan running out of money, all people who worked in any type of governmental jobs had their benefits cut. Current my monthly Social Security check is less than one dollar a day. I'm not "boo-hoo ing" , but why give money to illegals, regardless of what their status becomes. By the way, how did they get Social Security cards?

I wish Bush would at least give an explanation for his ideas on illegals, He has completely set our country up for terrorist attacks, the very thing we are supposedly at war in Iraq over,He obviousley doesent care about Americans or this country. If this is all to line his pockets with gold,I hope he realizes hes" old white people,it is his duty to die",
Raza. It will be future generations that will pay the price for his greed. When I think about the S.S. I just get angry to think our veterans who fought to make this country free go without help from our government while we give to the ingrate illegals so they can multiply like rabbitts and take over this nation. I dont think Americans can just sit back and watch the only retirement plan they have be givin away,Its looking like a war to me.

Well it is legal to do that! If it can't be legal now, just pass a law and make it legal!
Simple as that! Maybe the anti's will quit with the illegal this and illegal that!
The anti's just want the laws to stay the same and not evolve to meet societys needs!

Good question. Illegals shouldn't be here in the first place and do not deserve a share of social security benefits.

Our government tells us that Social Security is going bankrupt and then they decide to give it to illegals.
The Senate is putting illegal foreign nationals ahead of American citizens. I would say that is a traitorous act.

...with a birth to death ratio of 8 births for every 1 death...the average for Americans(all races) is 1.5 births to 1 death..can you imagine what the survivor benefits alone will be?
But then this won't happen if amnesty is not passed....Bush, Pelosi & many others are already pushing....contact congress
