So what do you want know about another lousy national chain?

Do yourself a favor and find an independent steak house.

I would re ask this question and ask about a good steak house that was not a national chain (or even regional chain) in your area. If possible, I would try to find a place that was well established, and has a cooking and waitstaff that was been there for many years.

Sure those places are harder to find -- but if you find one, you will be well rewarded and will find out it will be a lot better than what any national chain can give you.

I have had nothing but great meals and fantastic service at the Outback I have been to the most.

The steaks are good.
The loaded potatoes and sweet potatoes are good.
The potato soup is AWESOME!!!

The Outback in Naperville/Aurora in Fox Valley is the best.
The Joliet Outback is so-so. The service was mediocre.
The Outback in Bloomington is good.
The Champaign-Urbana Outback is very good.

I haven't been to an Outback in over a year, so maybe all this poor food and bad service reported here is a recent thing.

Let me tell u a true story. We went to a opening of a "outback" years ago and were impressed. The waitress sat down w/us and spent a hour plus going through the whole menu and explaining each item. Since then, we have been to at least 4 others with no
positive rewards. Food all tastes the same, menu items are inconsistent etc:would not ever go back

i have had the worst service at outback.. and i think they are crazy to give you the amount of food that they do for the prices.. they are a huge assembly line back in the back and barely get your order correct.. How hard is it to get a steak well done.. i mean its not hard to cook a steak without burning it.. they dont realize it.. and another thing.. if they would listen to what you order it wouldnt be a bad idea either.. its not just one outback.. its all of them so i think the training is seriously lacking as well. bad food bad service bad prices.. equals somewhere i will never go again.. !!!! hope someone has had better luck than i did.. i like my money and dont wanna waste it anymore.. :D

Outback is one of my favorite restaraunts. They have a really good drink called the Wallaby darned. Their food is absolutey delicious and I do not think it is overpriced. And you get tons of food. Definately try the cheese fries. The bread they serve is delicious too and you have to make sure you ask for the honey butter. I highly reccomend this place. Everything they make is fresh and from scratch.

Why go to Outback when there are "real" steak places out there?

What a waste.Outback refering to austrailia The land of kangaroos. There is NO beef farms down under. All the beef (and veery little of it is imported) So how do they come up with a nice juicy steak?

I usually prefer indy restaurants, but for a chain, it's not bad.
