I beleive in God and am a Christian. I'm not so sure about some churches or evangilist, or political christians. I have faith in God, and I don't have a problem with what other people beleive or don't beleive. I would not call any person stupid just because they are an atheist or a scientist, I would expect the same respect although it's true there may be some christians that are dumb and some are smart ,it would seem the same can be said of atheist and sceintist some are smart but to say all sceintist and atheist have conered intelligence now thats a bit vague isn't it

i think most people generalize others to some degree but if they really want to be honest with themselves, even if they don't share it with anyone, they will see that people are different from other people. Even in the same organizations.

If scientists are truly scientists, I'm sure they are knowledgeable enough to decipher between an honest christian, the few that are around, and a deceitful one....even if most do hate christians

btw there are actually some christian scientists out there believe it or not.

Athiests, on the other hand, (please, i don't mean any disrespect) i wish I could say the same for. At least of the athiests I have come into contact with. Most athiests I've found are incredibly pessemistic and generalize lots of people - especially christians. They also generalize circumstances...also in a negative way. I'm not saying they aren't at all positive, I've just seen that thier world views are incredibly influenced by some terrible tragedies and as a result, reflect a lot of hopelessness. Especially in view of religeon.

First off, most scientists are NOT atheists, and DO believe in God. I am a scientist and I am an atheist, and most of my colleagues are Christian.

While I do not believe in God myself, I understand that religion plays a very important role in most people's lives. Many people draw their sense of morals from religion, so the world would be a much worse place without it.

I respect your right to practice any religion you wish, and feel that it is important that you are allowed to do so. I may not believe your religion, but I strongly defend your right to have it. However, I expect this to go both ways. I expect others to respect my right to not have a religion, and to not force their religion upon me.

Uh-hum. You do not seem to follow church doctrine, so I'd be curious what flavour of christian you actually are. You really smell like an agnostic to me, not a christian. Though, of course the difference for example between a lutheran and an agnostic is disappearingly small.

Of course they aren't the same, but some strive towards a sameness with their religious community and thus ignore truths- whether they be social or scientific. I'm sure Atheists don't really have that much of a problem with you- we do not actively condemn people who believe in the tooth fairy either.

Belief systems are designed to help raise our children safely and happily. Some times when casting a God spell(Gospel) on our children to get them to obey us we have to lie a little. When these little white lies go unnoticed they get spread as truth to their own little ones. Each belief system ends up with its own set of misconceptions and the scientists are left with the task of unraveling the truth from lies. If not for science we'd all be committing virgin sacrifices to the volcano god.

some do

some know better but still word statements so they will still cover all christians

of course these wide statements can be made by people on both sides. Like lumping scientist with atheist. there are many scientist that believe in God.

and some don't do any of the above.

To answer that question just flip it around......

"Do all Religious people think that Atheists and scientists are the same?"

No. Everyone is different.

P.S. I am an Atheist. Some of my closest friends are Christians. I have respect for them and their beliefs.

Romans 1:25
who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

you don't have to be stupid to make the wrong choices in life

Jesus said those who seek, find

I have ti believe that those who reject God never truly seek Him in the first place, they say "I am an atheist" so they can continue in their sin and pretend there is no God

woe to them at the second death

imagine waking up in Hell and saying "I never even considered the possibility there was a God"

sad, huh?

Live and let live.

Not all people are the same in any respect. Why so much generalizing? I am an atheist and respect anyone's right to the religion of their choice and will bow my head in their place of worship. However, their religion must not infringe on my basic freedoms, nor may it assume supremacy.

No. Many do generalise about those with faith and assume they are lacking intelligence. This probably because as we all know, empty vessels make the most noise. Those who are most vocal and indignant about science/religion tend to be those we should ignore. Science and religion are not mutually exclusice, in reality they have little to do with each other.

Believing in a book written in the bronze age by unknown authors makes you extremely gullible. So you are all the same in that aspect.

That doesn't have much to do with intelligence. But the more educated you are, especially in the sciences, the more likely you are to be an atheist. Top educated scientists are 90% atheists and yes I can give you sources to back that up. http://www.lhup.edu/~DSIMANEK/sci_relig.htm
