I have a 2 year old rottie male he is vey pacid but loyal.he is more for my partner and my little boy and so i wanted to get another dog bt i would like to get a pocket jackrussel (they grow no more than 7inches)People are telling me that my rottie will kill it but whenever we see dogs outside he always crys play with them he as only ever played with 1 dog whilst off the lead and that was a german shepard do you think it would be ok?if i did get one he would never be pushed out.

i think it is bull, i had a rottie with a papillion and they were inseprable,the papillion had to go on the longs works with the rottie the would snuggle. after the papillion died we replaced her with a minature foxie that had been abandoned at birth and our rottie took care of him like her own pup...to tell the truth i would get a big and small dog most have a special bond and they also know not to play too rough especially if they have grown up around children...

I'd strongly advise against this. Your rottie may not intentionally kill the pocket jack russel, but should he nip/slap/tackle (as dogs do when they are just playing) your new dog could be seriously injured or killed. I suggest getting a medium to large breed to even out the sizes.

It depends on how socialized your Rottie is, and how much prey drive he has. At my dog day care, we have Rotties socialized with Rat terriers, Chihuahuas, miniature Dachsunds, etc.
