Schwinn! JK You are safe with anything Japanese. Think Toyota or Honda. Nissan also has a new car out called a Versa that gets 36mpg and looks like a nice ride. If I had to pick a car right now and I wanted to stay at a good price, I would definitely look at the Versa. If price is not an issue, you might look at a smaller Volvo like the S40. Unfortunately, I have not seen a good American car which seems to be reliable and gets good mileage. Most of the American cars like the Chevy Aveo are made in other countries and get surprisingly poor gas mieage for their size. Just like during the energy crisis of the 70's, the American manuacturers seem to like to build rolling ships that get poor mileage and self destruct when they get 100k. I hope they wake up soon as I would really like to buy American.

There are several good cars out there. The overall best makes are Toyota and Honda. If you went to consumerreports.org and became a member for about 30 dollars you will have access to all of their data which is very good info. It breaks down all of the models and gives repair record, mpg, etc. Overall the Civic and Corolla are the best combination of value and economy in my opinion.

Dont listen to all these uneducated idiots that think Toyotas are the best cars in the world and somehow a gift from God. All manufactures make good reliable cars. Just find the one that best suits your needs and is in your budget.
