ABSOLUTELY! I was there in November....and NOLA is back. I have visited there 2 times before Katrina, and in November, I was very pleased to see progress and a up and running city, much to the contrary of what the media may say. The French Quarter is up and running. The music is playing. Bourbon Street is alive and full of street performers. Cafe du Monde, Johnnys Po Boys, all the Brennans restaurants.....open for business. I would suggest going! I am thinking of returning next month for my birthday weekend.

Deff so. New Orleans is great .. if you are a tourist you are most likly NOT going to see any damage done by Katrina.. unless you specially go out looking for it. Its only effected the locals. I go to NOLA almost every weekend for entertainment .. for years.. and have never experienced any problems with crime. You just gotta play it safe like you would in any city.

Yes we are. I don't recall that stopping people anyways. People were booking bus tours though our neighborhoods. Besides, how many were there after the Earthquake in Los Angelo's 1994,and O.J was the talk of the town not not the broke *** city.

yes, it is ready. We visited last September and things were pretty great. Most of the establishments had odd hours/days that they were open, but it is nothing that you can't work around as long as you PLAN for the things that you want to do and CALL ahead to your must see places.

There are too many murders right now. The city is about to impose a curfew again to try and control violent crime.

Crime is the big problem now. A doctor and his wife who moved to New Orleans to help hurrican victims were shot in a home invasion last week. She died, but he will make it. That kind of thing makes it tough to rebuild.
