Don't you need to have a social security number to pay social security? How does an illegal immigrant obtain a social security number to pay into the social security? If they have a social security number haven't they broken another law? The law against stealing identities? Can some one explain to me how this is done with out breaking the law?

TRUTH: Most illegal aliens do not receive a typical paycheck with tax deductions -- they are paid in cash and do not pay taxes. Even when they do pay taxes (only possible if they use fraudulent social security numbers or government assigned ID tax numbers), their meager income is not enough to pay for medical expenses and all the expenses for all the children they give birth to. You don't have to look at statistics -- just visit the maternal ward at the L.A. county hospital. There, illegal immigrant women are having thousands of children per year free of charge and can't afford them once they give birth, and that doesn't stop them from having even more children -- most learn how to work the system so that they receive cash assistance and food stamps.

A basic principle in economics is this: The more people that assimilate into the system the better -- if it creates a larger tax base. But here in California it hasn't. For example, the feds had to bail out the L.A. County hospital system several years ago and the county hospitals are now again headed for another crisis. The evidence shows that the net results are that illegal immigrants cost the taxpayer significantly more than they pay in taxes.

Because they are the biggest contributors to unemployment in the US, and they are forcing many US citizens into early retirement. Three illegals are working for the price of one American and with no employer benefits. They help the employer in the present and future. An ex-friend of mine use to brag about the money he was saving by hiring illegals and (of course) what great workers they are (home-depot management). He then arranged for some of them to work on and clean his mother-in-laws small business. Then they where hired to do the lawn work at their homes. Actually the only American they still use is the pool guy, but give the illegal’s a bit more time and they will pool enough cash together to invest in some pool cleaning equipment. At the same time another friend lost her small home cleaning business, two young mothers that was looking for an apartment together so they could move out of the welfare housing project lost their employment there. You know the job’s Americans don’t want to do! One year prior to the above another friend lost their family run small landscaping business. You know the job’s Americans don’t want to do! Illegals even hurt the people TRYING TO GET OFF OF WELFARE. If the low wage earning illegals recieve amenisty they would also qualitfy to live in public welfare housing which is already full with legal citizens, The welfare housing projects are already dangerous, when the illegals move in, the housing projects will become a real war zone!!! If you’re ever in PA just e-mail me and you can meet all these people, just bring ICE with you, we would really welcome the feds!

. THE WASHINGTON TIMES

An agreement the Bush administration reached with Mexico on Social Security benefits would allow illegal aliens granted amnesty in the future to claim credit for the time they worked illegally.

The deal was reached in 2004 but never released publicly because it hasn't been submitted to Congress. The TREA Senior Citizens League, a Social Security advocacy group, recently obtained the document through a Freedom of Information Act, and said it confirms the group's worst fears.

The document is a jumble of definitions and legal language, but a spokesman for the group said what's important is what's not in the text: It does nothing to prevent undocumented aliens who later get legal status from receiving benefits for the time they worked illegally. And that comes as the Social Security system's finances are about to be put under greater strain by the retirement of baby boomers.

"If you open up the trust fund to people who have been working in the country illegally for many years, that bankruptcy date can only come sooner," spokesman Brad Phillips said. "People on the other side of this, people who have been arguing that of course illegal aliens can't get their hands on Social Security benefits, now can't make that argument easily anymore."
.
"To get Social Security benefits, you do have to be legally in the United States. This agreement does not address in any way immigration, immigration laws or override current law," he said, adding that a 2004 law, the Social Security Protection Act, prevents illegal aliens from getting benefits.

But the seniors group said the 2004 law also states that if those aliens later get legal status -- through an amnesty or some sort of legalization plan such as the one President Bush and the Senate tried to enact last year -- they would be able to collect the benefits based on their time as illegal workers.

The deal has not taken effect because Mr. Bush has not signed it or submitted it to Congress. Once he does, Congress would have 60 days to vote against it or it automatically would become law.

Sorry Skip I changed my answer ,this is more currant I think.

Some do through stolen or fake numbers and some do through their own numbers when they have 'overstayed' permission to be here.

However, many pay none, and the slight offset the Social Security suspense fund creates to the huge drain on education and local services (a) doesn't help our schools and (b) has been counted many times and given too much credit as a supposed offset.

Yet now the government wants to give them social security benefits far in excess of anything they paid in when we are already looking at a bankrupt social security system by 2040.

katsulover is right about the ITIN, but the law has now changed. You can no longer use an ITIN for employment purposes. It can only be issued for the purpose for which it was originally intended - for non-residents who own US property to file taxes and the like. So if an employer asks to see a SSC and is given an ITIN letter he should not accept it.

Unfortunately, this does not get around the issue of forged cards. The issue of educating employers in their responsibilities has also not been adequately addressed. How many small businesses have innocently accepted ITINs in the past few months, thinking they are doing the right thing?

It can't be....that is the part the national media never talks about..the crimes against Americans...they would rather broadcast the sob stories. One lady in DFW area "found out" 84 different people were using her social security number! You would think SS would have notified her - but nope the illegals must have their "rights" protected.... take from middle-class Americans & give to illegals seems to be our governments motto now!

They make up a number. Since there are more numbers available than people, odds are that they will have a number of their own(999,999,999 numbers vs. 300,000,000 people). If the number is taken, then they are told and will make up another number. Once they get a number that is not taken, the funds will go into that number. Since they don't claim SS services when they are old, the funds will remain in the hands of the government.
