Doctors only pls....career questions?
I am pursuing a career as as doctor, and am currently in the interview/acceptance phase of medical school application.

I need some help and guidance in my decision, and have several questions I would like to ask about the process of becoming a doctor:

1. What school did you attend, and what is your field of medicine? What was your undergrad degree in?

2. How far in debt were you after med school, and how long did it take to pay off your student loans?

3. How long did it take for you to go through med school and finish residency? How old were you?

4. Was it worth the time/money spent to pursue the career, and is there anything you would do differently if you had it to do over again?

5. In your opinion, does it really matter all that much which med school you get your degree from??

That's all I have for now. Thanks in advance for your answers!

1) University of South Alabama? Internal Medicine. Undergrad degrees in Archaeology and Biology
2) 85,000. 13 years
3) 7 years total, + 8 years undergrad, 33
4) Yes and no. I wouldn't do it again, but the education was priceless. Insurance companies and the feds stole our livelihoods and physicians were not good businessmen in general. You will spend as much time doing paperwork as you will taking care of people if you take insurance, so I quit taking it and I am much happier
5) Not if it is US approved and you can pass your boards afterwards
6) I also wish you good luck, There is nothing quite like the feeling that you have truly helped someone or saved a life for the right reasons
